Would probably be a good idea to have this convo moved to an Oblivion thread feel like we've completely derailed this one

Ini's are where the magic is, I'm keeping a close eye on the tweaks people are making, I'm fairly familiar with diving into the ini's myself too but it's been a few years since I last had too. Seems like every Elder Scrolls or Fallout release I have to refamiliarize myself with editing them

Wow, my FPS is all over the place (50-120 on ultra+RT+DLAA), and I keep getting 'fatal errors' with CTD.

Even when it's reporting 100+ it seems jumpy and not smooth at all...and that's just in the initial tunnels sections.

Looks like Im going to have to play with the settings a bit, and then cap the FPS to maintain the smoothness.

Edit: have updated the DLSS (streamline) and added in the UE tweaks, and now it's sitting at a comfortable 130-140FPS, but have capped it to 120FPS and will see how it goes once I'm in the open world.

Edit 2: latest patch this morning (26-Apr-2025) has inexplicably removed DLSS, and I'm now seeing huge stutters (0.5 seconds for example)...although my FPS randomly changes between the capped 120fps I've set, and an uncapped 300+fps over restarts.

Digital Foundry has some comments on it too:

...and it's not even an indie game

I've derailed many a thread on here, so I was probably due one of my own to be derailed - nicely done!

Getting things back on track, I've sang the praises of Wadget Eye Games in quite a few places as one of the better companies still making point & click games. Their latest game, Old Skies, released this week and is sitting at 98% positive from 67 ratings. It's a niche genre these days, but they really do know what they're doing in that space!

Prodeus came out in 2022, feels very much like the original Doom, Quake and the classic FPS games of that era, but with the kind of modern quality of life features you now expect from the genre. Humble Games are no longer publishing sadly, but most of the games they published were very good. Prodeus is no exception!

This is definitely one for @SpyderTracks

I've not played this (yet), but I will definitely be playing it soon.

A free to play adventure game is kinda what I'm in the mood for at the moment. The fact that the game has a surprising publisher has me intrigued. The game has an educational slant about how bank loans, etc work, but to see a bank publishing a game is still kinda wild to me!

The Precinct is one of the most wishlisted games on Steam at the moment and is effectively the anti-GTA as you play as a police officer trying to catch the criminals. I really enjoyed the demo in a previous Next Fest and so it has been on my wishlist. It finally releases today!

Oooo, how you finding Clair?
I'm really enjoying it so far. Engaging story, visually lovely and fantastic soundtrack. I'm also finding the combat system a lot of fun with great skills and builds to play with. I know some people haven't liked the mix of turns based attacks with timing based block and parries but i think it works fine. For an indie, it's incredible.
