I have no clue on what I need.

Hi everyone,

I'm from the UK

I've always played consoles and currently own an Xbox Series X, I favour games like Warzone / Battlefield / Overwatch / Apex, your typical top played shooter games, I wanting to make a switch from console to PC due to feeling that in the long run it's more efficient and beneficial to upgrade a PC to meet demands of games gradually and also everything about PC game play seems allot more crisp.

My problem is I have no idea where to begin? I know the current market is steep and prices have grown massively however if I took 1500GBP - 2000GBP can I buy myself a decent build? If not should I save more? If that's the case then I will, I don't want to ruin my gaming experience by having to significantly having to reduce graphical settings because I've scimped on components.

Could someone build me a decent build with my budget above and give me rough estimate on what FPS to expect for the titles mentioned above. Would the build be capable of being able to stream whilst also playing or would I be asking too much?

I have a monitor currently however I will upgrade if required, my current monitor is 27inch Curved 1MS AOC 1440P 144MHZ

Thanks in advance.

I've just attempted to build my own with the configurator and ended up at £2800, I think I'm massively over compensating on things
Well post what you've specced along with the configuration link, then we can balance it out for you, and be in your budget

I've managed to drop the costing slightly but unsure, I believe AMD CPU are a cheaper option? However It wouldn't let me choose any?

I'm not bothered about any fancy lighting, just maximum cooling. I'd chosen a 1000W PCU for future upgrades?

Heya! I feel like your pricepoint is being really screwed over by what is out of stock. Something like a i5 12600K and 3070 would be ideal for what you've mentioned, but, they're out of stock! Making a couple of compromises I've come up with the following. I'm unsure on what FPS you'd be looking at for your games- your best bet would be to search the game and 3070Ti, I'm sure there will be plenty of benchmarks on YouTube. Any questions, ask away!

Case
LIAN LI LANCOOL 215 GAMING CASE A case you've used, approve, really solid choice 👌
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i5 Six Core Processor i5-12600 (3.3GHz) 18MB Cache 12600K would be ideal here, but the 12600 will still be a decent performer
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 (LGA1700, USB 3.2, PCIe 5.0) - ARGB Ready Not much more expensive than the B660 version so worth paying the extra- Ideal board for the 12600K really
Memory (RAM)
16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB) With the RAM PCS provide, there isn't much difference between 3200mhz and 3600mhz so I've saved a few quid and gone with 3200mhz
Graphics Card
8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3070 Ti - HDMI, DP, LHR Realistically, this is overspecced for 1440p 144hz. The 3070 would be the ideal card and would save a bit of cash alternatively, you could go for a 3060TI and i7 12700K!
1st M.2 SSD Drive
500GB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 520 GEN 4 PCIe NVMe (up to 5000MB/R, 2500MB/W) Gone with an even faster 500GB boot SSD
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB INTEL® 670p M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 3500MB/sR | 2500MB/sW) Smaller but considerably faster games drive
Power Supply
CORSAIR 850W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET I agree with your original post and I'd recommend going 1000W for better future upgradability but 850W will service this build just fine
Power Cable
1 x 1 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
Corsair iCUE H100i RGB PRO XT Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler Higher end cooling option for the 12600/K, the Frostflow 200 would also do an ample job
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING

I personally don't think so. Ryzen 5000 is an end of life platform, with it's replacement due to come out in the 2nd half of this year, compared to 12th gen which is a brand new platform meaning future upgradability should be good, plus Intel 12th gen has better value and PCIe 5.0 which could come in handy for a future GPU upgrade.

Thanks for the help bud,

I've stretched the budget to £2200 using your config above and tweaked slightly.

How does it look in regards to future upgradability in mind.
