I build this using specs from a friend but just wanted to make sure I have not made any glaringly obvious mistakes. I just want a PC for playing games at a casual to decent level. So how does it look?

Looks like a decent first attempt, but certainly some areas we can improve. Before we're able to assist, we'll need some info

1) Budget - What are you looking to spend?
2) Uses - What will you be using the PC for? You've mentioned gaming, what games? Will you be using the PC for anything else?
3) Monitor - Have you got a monitor you plan to use or do you have a budget for one? Either said budget, the make and model, or resolution and refresh rate would be ideal!
4) Full spec and link - Would you be able to post the full spec (this includes the boring warranty and delivery options) as well as the configurable link? This makes life a whole lot easier for us (y)

1) I have budgeted £1400 for the PC
2) No super demanding games. Things like sea of thieves, raft, apex legends maybe? Honestly my current laptop cannot handle anything in 3D so it will be a big step up. Apart from gaming I do run games on roll20 virtual table top so usually have 100 tabs open while on discord video chat and streaming music.
3) Monitor - ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD 27-inch 2K QHD Curved Gaming Monitor, 165Hz, 1ms, Dual Integrated Speakers, Adaptive Sync, DisplayPort, 2x HDMI, for Home Entertainment and Gaming. Was recommended by a friend as a good deal at £200.

I would spend a bit more on the foundations of the build. The system you have been recommended is very out-dated now and isn't specced how we would recommend (slow RAM etc). Below is a current system with the 2060 in place. If you wanted to have a bit more power to handle the monitor a little better you would want to pay the extra for the 3060Ti.

I would also want an AIO on there, H100i or the likes, but the budget isn't there for it unfortunately.

Looks like a solid build- Thought it'd be worth mentioning that the 6600 is currently about £15 less for performance that rivals the 3060 so seems like a no brainer to me. I also agree with the the 3060TI comment and if you're able to stretch, I certainly would. One way to do this is opt for the 12400F which is still a perfectly capable CPU and brings the overall price down a bit.
