How to update bios

I admit I don’t understand bios much but what I get from here is if I ain’t broke don’t fix it. It seems that all other software we are told always have the latest version but not necessarily bios. When should you update bios? Only if something is wrong or every 5/10 years?

When something is broken and a fix is needed, or when a new feature is released...in my case it was to take advantage of enabling Resizable BAR to see if there was any benefit, which in the couple of games I've tried (MSFS, Far Cry 5 and AC Valhalla) there indeed seems to be a 2-3% increase in FPS...but that will be game/system dependent.

ONLY when you're having problems, and then ONLY when you have done your research (calling PCS and asking) and established that the updated BIOS will fix your problem, or that it contains new features/updates that you actually need.

In addition, when troubleshooting, a BIOS update should be the very last item you should consider trying.

It is not necessary to update the BIOS for any other reason. I've had numerous PCs and laptops that have lived there whole life and never had a BIOS update.
