So would the simplest way round this be to copy the software setups from the DVDs to a usb memory stick on my current pc (which has a DVD drive) and then run the software setups from the memory stick on the new pc?

If I upgrade office that would also simplify things. Does anyone have any experience of buying microsoft licenses through websites like buy-keys.com or wowcher?
No, I'd add an external DVD drive, they just plug into usb as and when you need them

I was just about to order my pc and they've got the fractal focus G black case on offer and it has a 5.25" bay, so I could move my DVD drive into the new pc. But it says it has 2 x 3.5"/2.5" bays. Does that mean I couldn't have 2 x M.2 ssd drives as well as my Samsung SATA II 3.5" hard drive. It also has an extra 120 mm front fan (although I probably don't need that much airflow!). I don't really know much about modern pc cases and builds. So which case would be better for me?

Thanks

I wanted to say thanks for all the advice and give some feedback on how it all went.

I went for the Corsair 4000D case as I had a look online and it said it was a better case. So the spec of my new pc is the same as in my post #17.

Everything was simpler than I was expecting. The only slight problem was that PC Specialist had pre-loaded Windows 10 home (which might have been down to me when I put in the order). Microsoft wouldn't let me swap my licence across as I have a licence for Windows 10 pro. So I had to load Windows 10 pro as a clean install and then it was simple to swap the licence across. I bought a licence for Office 2021 and transferred the data accross from outlook 2007 - no issues. I also loaded microsoft money and had no problem moving the data accross. We have a laptop with a DVD drive, so I copied the contents of the relevant CD's onto a usb stick and was able to load the programmes onto the new pc, again with no issues. So I won't need to buy an external DVD drive.

It was also straightforward to move my old SATA hard drive to the new pc but it took me a few goes to work out the best connector to use on the motherboard (there were 6 options and the motherboard instructions weren't detailed). PC Specialist had sent all the cables, so I found the power cable to connect it to the PSU and the SATA 6GB cable to connect it to the motherboard. There were even some cable ties in the accompanying box.

The new pc is ridiculously faster :). It is also nice and quiet. I am very happy.

Thanks again for everyone's input, it was all very helpful.
