Hi End Gaming PC

The time has come to replace my last PCS gaming pc that has served me well for the past 6 years. I will be replacing my current monitor which is an ASUS 34" ROG Swift PG348Q GAMING MONITOR with a 5k monitor withing the next 12 months (Probably the Samsung Odyssey G9 QLED) so a need a system capable of running games on that so that's why I chose the 4090 but not sure if the 4090 OC would be a better choice or just a waste of money.

How the system looks and RGB is very important to me, and I love the look of the case I have chosen, so I wouldn't really be willing to change the case. My top budget is £4k but can go a little over if necessary.

I'd be grateful if someone could let me know if this build looks ok, the advice I recieved last time when I purchased from PCS was invaluable.

Very slight tweaks, I can't in good conscience recommend the 5000T unfortunately. sure it's a great case but it's so obscenely priced it hurts my soul.

The 5000X is close to identical to it but smaller and frankly I think it looks better especially in actual photos of peoples set ups. But hey it's up to you

Motherboard changed because I can't see a reason to own a CROSSHAIR on a gaming system. Especially with the quality of the TUF editions, they are much much cheaper but are fantastic products. Unless there is something very very specific that only the CROSSHAIR offers that you need there is no other reason to have it over the the X670 TUF in my opinion

Changed the primary boot drive to the 990 Pro because it's the fastest drive available and the budget allows

Secondary drive is a great shout for super fast mass storage of games

Removed the extra thermal paste, the Corsair coolers come with their own pre applied very very good thermal paste so need to pay for more

Kept the fans, note though the more fans you add the louder it'll get. The 5000X has three fans at the front and there will be three fans on the CPU cooler so that's 6 fans internally blowing not including the GPU which is plenty for any build

Silver warranty is a bargain for a fiver mate especially when spending this kind of money

Good shout about the warranty, I didn't even realise that silver was that cheap.

Thanks for spotting the faster primary boot drive, I thought I'd chosen the fastest one for some reason. I didn't realise that the cooler already came with paste applied.

The only thing that puts me off the 5000X is that it just looks too similar to the case that I currently own which is the Corsair Crystal series 460X. The reason I went for the Crosshair motherboard was because the TUF motherboard said that 1 or more front usb's would not work with the 5000T case. Is there another option that I could choose so that I wouldn't lose the funtionality of the front USB's?

Weird one as far as I know the X670 TUF has front USBC support. Might be worth picking the phone up to PCS to confirm that one, not sure I'd pay a couple hundred quid for front USBC support but I get it paying this much I'd want all singing all dancing as well but I'm pretty sure it does support it

It does, and the config tool doesn't raise a question about it so far as I can tell. It was true on the X570 Tuf motherboard, but not on the current gen. I wonder if you might have been working on the old config tool and gotten muddled, @emmsec? Easily done if so... But I'm sure you can have the Tuf X670E board and have front USB-C.

I didn't know that there was more than one configuration tool. I just chose the option to configure a custom AMD gaming pc. I don't think the issue is that the other motherboards don't have front USB support since I know that they do. I think the issue might be the number of front usb ports on the 5000T. It has 1 usb 3.1 and 4 usb 3.0.

This is the warning that I get if I try to proceed with any motherboard other than the Crosshair. I guess i'll do like @Steveyg recommends and give PCS a call.

Oh, that makes perfect sense. Sorry!

I've spoken to PCS and for for future reference the Crosshair is the only motherboard that they stock with the headers to support using all the front ports on the 5000T.

With that in mind and taking in to account all the advice that I've recieved I think I'm going to change my case and go for the build that @Steveyg recommended.
