If ya like watching movies, it may be worth going for a 5.1 set? unless you just want 2.1 speakers? I know I love my headset and soundcard combo, works ace together!
The soundcard will be good for gaming, however, I think the Asus DG will be a better choice its alot cheaper and does the job nicely.
The hard part is matching a soundcard to the type of speakers/headset you want. Analogue speakers and headsets will be good on onboard sound, however, the Asus DG will be nice compliment to sound quality for 20quid anyway. Although if you want a Digital sound system/headset that uses an optical cable for a connection and offers Dolby digital 5.1, then ya should go for a either the recon 3d (dont bother getting the high end ones not much difference) Or ya could go for an ASUS DX (what I have) pcs dont sell it though.
