Hi there. Does he have a monitor yet? If so, can you find us the make and model or let us know the resolution and refresh rate?

Okay, thanks. So... the graphics card that you chose is perfect for VR, it’ll run things absolutely fine. But it is very overpowered for his monitor, what he’ll see on screen is no different than what he’d see with a card that’s over £300 cheaper.

So to get the full benefit of it, you’d also have to buy him a monitor that itself will cost around £500. Which unfortunately I can’t make work with your budget.

If he’s been a very good boy would you be willing to buy him a new monitor in a few months...? 😃

Okay, well I’ve rejigged your original spec to one that is perfect for gaming and is a strong base build. It should last 7-10 years (might need a new graphics card in a few years as tech gets more advanced).

And it’d go really well with this monitor. I have this one and the same graphics card you’ve picked and it’s absolutely brilliant, I can vouch for what a good combo they are 👍

thanks for this he really need the 4 tb second hard drive why if you dont mind me asking the
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Six Core CPU (3.7GHz-4.6GHz/35MB CACHE/AM4) and not the rysen 7 or intel i7
Motherboard also do you not think it need extra fans or cooling system

AMD are hands down better than Intel these days on every front. The 5600X is a brand new processor that for a pure gaming build is perfect. The Intel processor is based on architecture that’s getting on for almost six years old, so it’s hardly cutting edge. There’s also inherent security flaws in the Intel CPUs that means there’s performance degrades each time a flaw gets patched. If you have the time to read some of the recent reviews on the 5600X you’ll see people raving about it.

The case I chose is great for airflow and the 5600X comes with a quality cooling unit so there’s actually no need for any extra fans 🙂👍

Well he could transfer that hard drive over to the new one and you only need to get another 2TB. And if his old PC isn’t going to be used anymore you can transfer the Windows license over to the new one. That will save another £100 or so...

was wanting to leave the old computer intact but the 2 x 2TB barracudas dives does work out a bit cheaper will this compromise the running of the computer if we changed to these rather than 1 x 4tb hard drive
i have added the IRELESS INTEL® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2,400Mbps/5GHz, 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD + BT 5.0 because our sky router has 2.4ghz and 5 ghz do we need this as the or does the motherboard already have wifi
would we be able to add more ram if need to this computer at a later date
i got this message when i went to save the quote was wondering if there was areason you put the 750w power supply on

You have selected a 750W power supply, but based on our calculations you actually only need a 550W power supply. We have calculated your specification to require around of 505W power including a 20% allowance.
would he be able to play blade and sorcery on the speck you recommended

sorry for so many questions still trying to get my head round it all

Not an expert, but the specs for that motherboard says 4 RAM slots, so there is room to add 2 more later on or the other alternative would be to replace the 2 x8 you got with 2 x 16 later on - depends on prices etc.

It is standard that PCS advise on the W for the power supply however I expect that the experts advise taking the 750 still as it will allow for future upgrades so likely to be a good thing to leave it at the 750 advised.

Hi @shazb. The 750w PSU is for future proofing. If he needs a new graphics card in a couple of years time, the power supply will be decent enough to cope with a new card.

And yes, he should be able to play Blade and Sorcery with that spec no problems (y)
