Help a father help his teenage daughter by appearing to be semi-competent when buying her a laptop

After loving the laptop PC Specialist built me, the teenage daughter needs one of her own as her current model bought several years ago is packing in.

She's a little bit of a gamer, but nothing too demanding. But I would like to sort her out with something that might see her through six or seven years, into university. Any suggestions of the kind of specs I should be looking for?

do you have a specific budget range? I ask as this will give other members of the forum a chance to spec what I take it is a laptop that is within this range, also what games does your daughter play? I ask this as the parts of the PC like the graphics card and processor are dependent on the types of games that are being played and also various quality settings.

I was guesstimating around the £1-£1.3K mark.... but I may be off. A lot of social gaming, but who knows where that will lead in the next couple of years.

For your budget the tongfangs are cheaper but seem to be prone to overheating.
