Hi, in answer to your question I'd suggest you read the attached especially the section on AMD v intel, then if you let us know monitor and budget details, then we can probably sort you out

Have a little read through the below. There are a few areas to pay particular attention to, such as what we need in order to assist you and the AMD vs Intel thread.

Edit: Beaten to it :D

Thanks for your response guys, I'm getting the monitor with the build so should of been included but it is:

Monitor
PCS GD27 27" GAMING MONITOR - 1440p, IPS, 165Hz

I heard in a different forum that the intel CPUs are now better but I may have been misinformed.

Going with your advice though I've adjusted it so that there's an AMD CPU instead, looks to be cheaper too.

With budget I'd say around £2000 but willing to spend a little more if it helps to make it quieter.

Another question is do I need a better wifi card, the previous spec said I didn't need it due to the motherboard I chose but I didn't get the message this time?

Also, it it worth it to get a better sound card as well?

Thanks!

Here's the updated spec:

Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me, I've gone from knowing nothing about computers to doing loads and loads of research and still not knowing much at all so I think my brain is fried and may have gotten confused regarding CPUs.

Thanks to both of you for the build recommendations, these seem a lot better and have helped me understand things a bit more and draw attention to things I was otherwise overlooking with the parts you've chosen. (RAM, Drives and Motherboards)

A question regarding fans; in the interest of keeping the PC as cool/quiet as possible I assume judging from your suggestions more fans doesn't necessarily equate to cooler/quieter?

Also, in the interest in keeping the system quiet could it be a good idea to get the 'Define 7' case as recommended in Scott's FAQ?

Is the better thermal paste not necessary, even for just £9 extra?

The more fans you add, not matter how quiet they run, will still generate more noise.

The key is finding a good balance with the right case offering good airflow and the fans. Between the two cases, it'll probably come down to personal preference as both are good cases and are recommended by the forum experts.

With the H115i cooler, you don't need the thermal paste even if it's only £9.

And if you really want to buy what @Scott recommends, then that has to be the Corsair Obsidian Series 500D SE Case 😁

Ahhh not quite......

Silence - Define 7 with as big a corsair ML Fan AIO as you can get/afford (H150i Capellix maybe?).
Purdy - 500D SE with any of the Capellix offerings.

:D
