Bah! Way too much choice on this front. For high-end options the Sennheiser PC360 seems to offer the best for a 3.5mm connection while the Tritton Pro+ looks like a great optical connection solution. :surrender:

As I want to use the cups on machines with no optical port, the PC360 would seem to be best, but as I'm going flat out on my rig why put up with mere stereo when the Pro+ will offer 5.1 and at £26 cheaper through PCS? I can see myself making no decision and sticking with what I've got

I saw somewhere on these forums a link for a SPDIF to optical converter... it was about £15 and was a plug in adaptor (rather than a box unit) so it was suitable to just plug into a SPDIF socket on a laptop.... I cant find the post/link though!!!

i will have another dig when i have more time...gotta go to work... I know i read it on this forum somewhere recently!!

because the pc360 stereo headset with a good sound card > beats any virtual 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound headset - only way to beat this is with true 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound headphones and an awesome sound card - like the roccat kave headphones however these are very very heavy and kill your head after an hour or so. I can vouch for the pc360 headphones the sound quality is awesome - I however im really considering the sennheiser rs180 wireless headphones - might as well...
