Having an awful time

Hi everyone,

Currently tearing my hair out trying to configure a PC for myself (tried to educate myself on the parts on what they do, it's just doesn't make sense to my little brain). I'm in dire need of one currently due to having to teach from home :cautious:. The sooner the PC arrives, the better because of this. However, I would only use this PC for work occasionally - it's main function would be for gaming (most importantly). Games such as Call of Duty and RPG games like Assassins Creed are my most played games. I currently have the Dell S2719DGF 27" QHD (2560 x 1440) 155hz monitor and use that with the Xbox one .

I'm a huge sucker for the RGB look and the more I can have, the better. My budget is around £1200 and would need a mouse and keyboard included in this. Please hit me with your best builds - I would very much appreciate the effort.

For that monitor. I would consider seeing if you can up the budget. Rough cost of a 1440p build is £1450-£1600 for a system that will give you a decent lifespan and the RGB you would like.

Especially as you want to play the more demanding games. £1200 will get you at 1080p system

due to COVID and demand for parts atm prices aren’t cheap I’m afraid

Thats my base 1440p build I would be happy to recommend. Storage is fairly small and there is room for upgrading the cpu cooler but that PC will give you a decent lifespan with a couple of GPUs upgrades along the way.

in terms of RGB it’s the case only on that build but trying to keep costs down

Thanks, appreciate it. Only issue is the 'Pre order only' on the graphics card. No idea on when that would come

All the 3000 series cards are just because PCS cant guarantee dates for them yet. The 3060ti isn’t in as much demand as the other cards and guys on here have had their PCs arrive in a reasonable time :)

Is there any other GPU's that would run 1440p on PC Specialists. If not, do you have any recommendations readily available I can install myself? Thanks again.

Ahh, ignore my previous message. Would you recommend going for that GPU still then? Or would there be better options outside of PCS

Thanks bud, really appreciate the help. I'll change a few bits and bobs to make it more relevant to me but you've been a massive help. Also, do you think the power supply you've put in would be overkill? Or is it worth it? Thanks

Bear in mind the added benefit of buying windows is that it comes installed and configured. If you’re not used to installing and configuring windows that may be worth the cost in itself.

Also, what's the benefit of having PCS install windows for such a high price?
Nurse has said it already.

The main reasons for that PSU are futureproofing and that its modular. (I would have selected 750w but the 850w is cheaper atm) :)

If you happy installing windows from scratch and having a licence from another machine you can transfer over you can save some money there for sure.

Massive help. Again, much appreciated. Going to look more into arrival time and other logistics before buying but I have a rough idea of what I want. Just one last question? Any recommendations for mouse and keyboard?

I second that choice, it's what I went with and I waited a month on order to get my PC which wasn't bad at all considering the wait times for some other GPUs. It's worth the small wait. :)
