Gpu dead? 1 long beep 3 short/random freezing

Hi all, having an odd issue with the pc.

Every so often, could be once a month or twice a week, both my screens will freeze. Sometimes audio will continue in the background, sometimes not.

Sometimes after a few seconds the pc will automatically reboot when this happens, sometimes it won't.

It tends to happen either when I've just closed a full screen game and am then looking on YT or similar.

But I can play for hours in games with no issues while they are open, it tends to happen when I have just closed them.

Occasionsly after the freeze the restart will fine, others ill get the long beep and 3 short ones.

I have new ram arriving today to test if that solves it.

I have previously used the program *who crashed* and it usually throws up a software issue related to nvidia ( GPU drivers are upto date)

i am just at a loss at what to try next.

Would a fresh install of windows help at all?

i do not have another gpu to test with and due to prices am reluctant to buy one just yo test.

Any pointers at all will be appreciated.

@Salmon Fisher is correct you should be able to plug your monitor into the motherboard via HDMI or Display Port (they're below the ROG logo in the pic).

That will help you get an image to your monitor, it might not really help too much with diagnosing the issue on the GPU though.

A fresh install of windows fixes a myriad of weird issues, but likely will not help if it is a hardware problem. Doesn't mean its not worth a try though.
