Good time to buy Vyper 17.3?

I'm a 2-time customer of PCS (very satisfied) and EXTREMELY tempted by a Vyper 17.3" due to wanting a more portable gaming machine - not to mention this machine looks so appealing! But unsure whether this is a good time to buy in the lifecycle of CPU/GPU releases.

Maybe it's much of a muchness (if so just let me know) but don't want to drop money on something with current specs if in 6 months the new AMD or Nvidia GPUs are released that blow the current ones out of the water... What are everyone's thoughts?

There's never a 'good time' to but tech, but you already know that. There will always be something better just around the corner. If you know you want a specific soon to come thing, then wait (I was waiting for the Ryzen 4k, but in the end couldn't wait any longer so went ahead with 10875H anyhow).

When the new gpu's get launched, they will be faster, they will be better, however they also will be more expensive, costs of the current stuff has platoughed a bit, and won't drop now until they get fire sale when new ones come. And laptops won't have them instantly as we saw with the rtx2xxx launch it takes time for the maxq/maxp parts to come to market, and that's after nvidia do their 80/ti then delay, the 70,then delay then 60 launch cadence.. So I say buy now what you need now. Only way in tech

The 3000 series NVidia and upcoming Big Navi AMD GPU's are set to be a very large performance increase, we're looking around 40% more powerful than current, usually a strong next gen release is 25% so this really is something special.

That being said, mobile cards usually follow after the desktop release, so reckon it's going to be another year or so before the 3000 mobile cards hit the market.

Also, AMD 4000 mobile CPU's are set to hit the laptop market any time now, and those are also set to utterly destroy intel in both performance and thermals for a lot less money.

It's a tough time. There is no good time to buy tech, because within 6 months, it's outdated.

the vyper 17 is probably the best pc that i have ever had. Is a jewel. The problem is that is affected from various problems. Clicky trackpad, control center not compatible causing various problems and bios outdated. With those problem resolved is the best pc on the market with no doubt.i bought is when it came out but bugs are still there.

I received my Vyper 17 a few weeks ago and just submitted an RMA for it today. The issues I have with it are all minor, but there are a lot of them. I've ordered a 17.2" Defiance VII as a replacement, though that will likely take a few weeks to arrive. You can see more details here:
