Good build for 4k60 and Unreal Engine?

Also, SpyderTracks, I did just find a 32" monitor with everything included in the other one, except a 4ms response time instead of 1ms. Is it worth sacraficing the response time for a bigger setup? Thanks for replying to my thread btw, I appreciate it! :)

I'd say yes, 4ms vs 1ms response time isn't going to be noticeable to human eye and usually they're pretty made up numbers anyway.

Thanks a lot, that's my mind made up :)

It does go a bit out of my budget though :(

I'm probably going to go with the 28" because it's more within my budget and some of the reviews on the 32" have said that there can be a bit of input lag in games. Mostly because of the budget though. I feel like 28 inch is big enough, I plan to have a desk that sits me fairly near to the monitors anyway, if I have two it will be fine anyway (not that I have one game across 2 monitors, I will just have a bigger setup.

Thanks for your help anyway SpyderTracks, it's always good to consider different options.

How about this for a 4k monitor? It looks really good to me, 1ms Response Time, 60hz refresh rate, G-sync, DisplayPort, all for £529. Not bad tbh for that price, has everything I would want.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acer...BbPgYiCuaRr0kC4HDItLtuv37JFL_O2IaAqPuEALw_wcB

There's a link to the website so you can take a look for yourself.

If I was to get two of those, it would add up to around £1060. The grand total would be just over £3700, which is perfectly ideal since I'm getting a better dual-monitor setup.

Thats the ones I suggested. They are good monitors.

Overall, The_Scotster, would you say that SLI is worth it? Apparently it is a bit unstable and doesn't work that well. It looks decent on the charts (improvements in quite a few games, drops from 10-20 fps in some), but would you say it's worth it overall? Also, can you disable SLI for games where one GPU would run better? Thanks!

It's entirely subjective. If the games with the good gains are the ones you want to play, and from the developers you predict you will want to play with in the future, then there is definitely some merit. If not then it's a complete waste of money.

You can enable/disable SLI at will so you won't see any drops if you configure it all correctly, you will only see gains. It's a lot of cash to be putting into it though so make sure you're going to use it :)

"Worth it" is a bit subjective, and you can make all kinds of arguments about price vs performance, and also it's up to you what levels of performance / graphics settings are satisfactory or not.

I've posted some things here about SLI, with links to some articles that might be of interest: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...-Hardware-FAQs&p=397288&viewfull=1#post397288

If we're ignoring the money or value point of view, however, SLI does have big performance gains in many titles, and since 4k is very demanding on a single 1080 ti, I would say SLI is worth it if you have the cash and want to push the settings as far as possible.

Ah

Thanks for the info on overclocking. But about the 2 gsync monitors, should I have that one as my primary monitor and then get one of the 4k monitors from PCS? They don't have gsync, but they do have 60hz and 1ms response. They're about £300 compared to the other which is £530.

The PC for the overclocked build totalled at £3490 + the £530 for the monitor = £4020.

Also, which cooler should I go with: The Noctua, or one from the Hyrdo Cooler Series?

Turns out I want a bit of extra power. I got rid of the Blu-Ray/DVD drive because it didn't go with my case (and I don't need one anyway) and bought an extra 200W. The whole cost now stands at £4084

Yes, or anywhere else that has a cheaper 4k monitor you like the look of.

To be honest if you don't need content on your off-screen to be 4k you could probably just get a 1440p 60hz monitor for £200 or even a 1080p one for £100. If you're not bothered about having your desktop / browser etc at 4k while gaming at 4k, and if you're not watching 4k movies while playing a 4k game, do you really need the 2nd monitor to be 4k?

That's a good point. All I would do on the second monitor is browse for assets on the Unreal Engine. Possibly some other things as well, it's just good to have two monitors because it's good to be able to see two things at the same time, for example, easy comparison of webpages. If I was looking at two different monitors to buy (on two different monitors, sounds pointless, but just an example) then I could have one tab on either screen. I might get a 1440p one, or if the price is too steep, I'll probably go for 1080p. If the monitors both use DP, how easy will they be to connect to each other (monitor to monitor)?

You wouldn't connect the monitors to each other. You'd connect them both to the graphics card. The graphics card will usually have 1 HDMI and 3 DP outputs.

How can I make sure of that, would it say? As I said before, I’m getting two GTX 1080 Ti’s.

I’m pretty sure they would have good connections being one of the leading graphics cards, right?

It does say on the configurator what outputs the graphics card has, the 1080Ti says DVI, HDMI, 3xDP. You will need to plug each monitor into the graphics card separately, depending on what your monitor supports you'll need to choose the right connection. If you want to use a GSync monitor for example you'll need to use DP.
