Give up on the 3090 Strix?

Great news! You’ve still gone with a 3090 yeah?Well, I dropped the Strix on Friday .. and woke up this morning to an email saying I'm in build!!!
Hmmm you’ve certainly given me something to think about. My core components are the same and I’m waiting on the 3090 strix as well. I think I’ll call PCS and have a chat with them today.
I'm in the same boat with 3080, gone from strix to brand X, but hopefully that will be enough for me nevertheless! congrats on your advancement!
Well I ordered the 6th of November .. and as soon as the Strix was swapped out .. boom. Afterwards, my concern was the 5950x .. would ordering a day after launch cost me an extra couple of weeks waiting for the 2nd or 3rd wave of restock? But it seems not.
Thanks. I'd imagine the Brand X 3080 still has a queue but hopefully you'll get sorted soon.
As @Ghosthud mentioned a couple of days back - the Strix might not be until the new year .. he gave stock numbers on the 3080 thread saying there's only currently one 3090 Strix assigned - with 80 odd outstanding ..
Yeah, it really does seem like the Strix models are a real bottleneck in builds. I placed my order on the 8th of November so it will be interesting to see what the situation is like. Do you have a full specs list that you can post? Make sure you let us know what model GPU you end up with!
UPDATE: Spoke to a nice bloke called Zach who said that because I'm actually very close to the front of the queue (couldn't give me an exact number), he believes that it wouldn't actually affect much if I changed anything because this weeks stock of 3090 were already assigned. So I'm going to wait a week and see how it goes from there!

So I dropped the Strix 3090 on Friday .. and Bazza has now finished his bacon butty and thrown it in the back of his van for delivery tomorrow ..
It's turned out a no-brainer decision for me in the end .. I was never wedded to the Strix .. and if it means I get a "better" build tomorrow (due to the money saved spent on upgrades) rather than a Strix build possibly after Christmas ... well, I'm happy .. I thought the 5950x might have caused a bit of a delay given I ordered the full system late on the 6th November .. figured that 1 day delay might have added a couple of weeks onto dispatch as I'd be bumped into later CPU restock .. but, not the case ..
So if you are waiting on a 3090 Strix (I presume a similar situation exists with other 3000 models) ..then that could be the hold up ..

How loud are the Zotac fans btw?
I can barely hear them .. I'm sat ear level, 2 feet max away from the side of the PC and although there is general "hum" I can hear .. when the GPU fans kick in it barely raises

Thanks for the reply. That's good to know! It was one of the things I was most worried about in dropping the Strix.
I mean, of course, you can hear it when at full load but, compared to the 980ti I had previously which would scream at me like a banshee when pushed .. the Zotac sounds like a little Baby Fairy breaking wind in comparison .. with sound coming through your monitor or with head phones on, you hear nothing, obviously.
Ah, that's helpful. I used to have a 980ti and I remember what that was like. I'll gladly take a baby fairy over that!
Anyway, just got the 'awaiting dispatch' notification. Dunno how long it'll take to get here but looks like launch day CP2077 might be back on the menu!
