General purpose and light gaming spec

I'm looking for a general purpose desktop with the capability for some light gaming. I'm thinking of £700-800 before peripherals. This spec is based on one of PCS's builds and also liking the look of the Asus ROG Strix GA15 G15 but my knowledge is limited! Does it seem sensible? Many thanks for any advice.

I'm wondering why 2 separate PCs?
Could you consider combining the budget for both?
That would increase your budget to £1500 ish, for 1 PC to do both jobs, which it would do no problem with that kind of budget.
If one's in an office and the other isn't, fair enough.

You haven't picked a good time for advice on these kinds of computers. AMD have just released a completely new generation of cpu chips. So everyone has been excited about them, and what they're bringing to the computing world. It's been a 'busy' couple of months. Unfortunately I'm not the one to ask about spec's, my knowledge is too out of date, sorry.
I can tell you that DDR4 RAM has a sweet spot at 3200MHz, bang for buck, and 16GB covers most uses with ease. Also, 2 sticks, 1 on each channel is much more efficient than 1 stick on 1 channel, 2 x 4GB RAM. You can then put another 2 x 4GB of matching RAM in later, when finances allow, if required/desired.
Oh, and I just noticed. If you add in the link from the bottom of your quote page, it makes altering your configuration easier.
Once you've got a quote, that stays good for a week (I think), obviously any changes will change the quote, but not for the parts that stay the same, those prices are set. No-one will alter anything without saying so to you. You won't wake up to a £2k rig instead of the £678 rig you've spec'ed. That isn't the way things are done in here.

Thanks for the reply! I'm sorry, I'm being confusing - it's the second spec I'm working on now, and only for one pc.
I've been reading about the new releases, and appreciate that people are busy talking about them, rather than my basic offering!
From what I can see, the new releases are out of my price bracket, and it seems the type of thing I want is likely to go up in price rather than down (is that right?) so I'm not sure there's much point in waiting.
I just wanted to check my spec was logical and if a tweak here or there would make improvements.
2 x 4GB RAM sounds good, thank you for the advice.

The 3600 edges it, I may be right (or wrong) in that the 3600 is PCEi 4 whilst the other one is only PCEi 3. The 3600 should be the faster chip as well.

What does "light gaming" mean? You might even be able to get away with an iGPU option like the 5600G, depending on the game and your monitor.

3600 it probably is then, thank you.

Gaming will probably be RTS type games, but more at the Northguard end of things than cutting edge. I'm out of practice at all this, having been relying on a work laptop for the last few years. I'm thinking a fairly low-end graphics card would do me.
