Hi guys,

I purchased a gaming PC in January for my son from PCS. I used this forum for help and advice with the build. I've now got a friend asking me to order a gaming PC through PCS for their son. Their budget is around £800, so i'm needing some help and advice with the build.

They're aiming to have a 144hz monitor for 1080p gaming. I'd appreciate if you guys could have a look over the build and pick out any errors or suggest any improvements within his budget of £800 to £900.

Hi Christopher,

They're both fairly solid builds, couple of thoughts:

- I'd suggest swapping the Ryzen 3100 CPU for a 3300X in the second one, it's a big step up in terms of performance.

- Similarly the 3300X is probably enough - the 3600X performance increase over a 3300X isn't huge for most current games. General consensus is the 3600 and 3600X will hold up better over the next few years, but that might be an option depending on budget.

- I'm not sure on the case choice, it looks to be really closed off at the front intake - the FractalDesign Focus G is apparently a great case and is a little bit cheaper, although I'm guessing you want the RGB? In which case the Corsair 220T airflow is apparently pretty good.

- The B550 motherboard should be more upgradeable in future (should have more CPU options in future) although performance between the 450 and 550 will be very similar right now - again, depends on personal preference and budget as to which you go with.

Hope that helps - either of your builds look to be fine for your needs, just a couple of thoughts on options.
