Hiya, i bought a gaming pc in June (specs below) and its extremely loud, even when just idle or browsing the internet etc - and unbearable really during gaming, even for less demanding games like cs:go. Does anyone know how to find out whats causing this? how do i know if its the case fans? gpu? cpu? etc. FYI my GPU gets to about 73 degrees in heaving gaming - the PC is well ventilated at the moment also. Thanks in advance for the help.

Noise will be coming from the GPU/CPU fan or the PSU or perhaps the case fans.

You need to isolate each one and see if it makes the noise better/worse. YOu can start by running prime95 to stress the CPU, then using afterburner or catalyst control centre software to ramp the fans on the GPU to see if thats causing it. if not check the case fans.

Take some time to listen closely to the machine. Perhaps if you can open the side too. That way you might be able to work out whether the sound is coming from the fans or a hard drive or something else.

When you know where most of the noise is coming from you stand a better chance of finding out if there is a way to fix or improve the issue :)

thanks for the help - ive tried opening the sides but that hasnt been much help - i used prime95 and it got alot louder, even when it was on only for a minute? idk if that means that its the cpu, i tried the amd catalyst to turn up the gpu fans and didnt really notice any difference.

Sounds like it's the CPU fan then perhaps. Which cooler do you have? If it's the stock one, then these run extremely loud. They're easy enough to swap out for a decent one, just need to repaste the cpu and seat the new heatsink.

If it's the cpu fan then get a can of compressed air and spray the heatsink with it. My AMD heatsink got full of dust every 6 months or so, seems to be a dust magnet.

yeah its the stock one i havent changed it - when i bought it from amazon it was listed like £30 cheaper than the others that had exactly the same specs - so i guess they just cheaped out on the fans -_-
thanks for the help guys :)

Yeah will consider them both - thanks guys - was just also wondering whether the psu fans were meant to be fairly audible - theres a considerable humming coming from them aswell that i only really notice during idle use. Not sure if theres anything i can do to stop that though? its 600w if that helps:)
