Sounds good - fingers crossed those HDDs turn up as expected!

You can always add an M.2 SSD yourself in the future as a DIY upgrade any time you like.

Keep us posted.

Much better configuration for the price.

As oussebon says, you can add a decent M2 drive when you can afford one and they’re simple to install.

I think my main fear is/was that I'm currently on an i7 (although its in a mac) I don't like the idea of downgrading.

Should be dispatched by the end of the week so I'll let you know!

I wouldn't worry a jot about that, certainly not got gaming :)

i5 and i7 are pretty much meaningless marketing terms these days. See:
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...e-lake-refresh&p=418564&viewfull=1#post418564

The 8th Generation i5 and i7 mobile CPUs (e.g. i5 8300H) have 6 cores versus the previous generation's 4 cores. So an i5 8300H actually matches or beats the performance of a 7th Gen i7 7700HQ for pretty much anything. We saw the same thing in the desktop market where the i5 8400 matches or beats the 7700k overall. This is noteworthy because usually an older gen i7 would still be better than a current gen i5 overall. But with the extra cores and fairly high frequencies of the 8th Gen CPUs, an i5 is as good as or better than an older i7.

So the i5 8300H will be more than adequate and quite possibly a very large upgrade depending on what exactly your old i7 was.
