Gaming Laptop for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

Good Afternoon,

I am new to this and I want to purchase a gaming laptop for my son that will run Microsoft flight simulator 2020 well. I have no idea of what spec to go for.

Does anyone have any recommendations of gaming laptops that will handle this game? My Budget is £1100.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you

Thank you for your reply.

Not really fussed on weight and it mainly be used just at home, so battery life will not be an issue. My son just wants to play Microsoft flight simulator 2020.

It's a little over budget, but this would be significantly better than other alternatives.

I am torn between this Nova AMD model Rtx 2060 Same specs, and the proteus Vlll + rtx 2070 super.

I wonder if having a full AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU vs Intel i7 10875H would make Much of a difference in gaming?

Thank you.

I assume will run Microsoft flight simulator 2020 well?
Not with the highest quality settings that the game has to offer, as it is a very recent and demanding one. But with medium/high settings it should be fine. I agree that the Nova build that SpyderTracks suggested is indeed the laptop that will give you the best performance at that price point.

Yes, budget is the limiting factor with this build, but the Nova will be substantially more powerful at this price point than anything else.

Just think about what your main usage would be. If you're only interested in gaming, the GPU is usually the bottleneck on laptops, so the CPU has less impact on gaming performance (in my opinion). You would be better with a higher-tier GPU and a mid CPU, but also bear in mind that the thermal performance is another very important factor on laptops.

Thank you.

Would you get more for your money for a PC rather than a laptop for the same price region of £1200.

I will definitely be purchasing one or the other

PC would definitely get you more power for the same money. Especially with the new 3000 series cards.

As a rule of thumb, yes. A desktop unit will give you a bit more bang for the buck as it doesn’t have some many constraints 👍

A desktop will also last significantly longer as the GPU can be upgraded. So desktop will last between 7 - 10 years, laptop will remain current for about 3 - 4

I’ve asked the question and he’s definitely interested in the laptop more. What would be the next upgrade from the build you quoted to improve running Microsoft Flight Simulator that extra bit better.

If you don't need to carry the PC around and have the space available for a monitor, case and keyboard, PC would definitely give you a lot better specs for the same money and as @SpyderTracks mentioned, it's also easier to upgrade.

But if you really need a laptop, then changing @SpyderTracks build to an RTX 2070 would be the next step in performance ;)
