Gaming desktop spec - budget c.£2.6k - anything i should change?

Hi,

Thanks for all the advice on these forums - I've always been a pre-built PC buyer, however my last two have gone kaput just outside warranties and bit fed up of how restrictive they are. Learnt a lot already from reading as many of the posts as possible and Scott's Desktop guide

I need to buy a new tower for mostly gaming - would like to try dabble in some streaming at some point - focused on COD and Warzone will be the heaviest use, possible some Escape from Tarkov etc.

The spec i'm looking at is below after a lot of deliberation and back and forth. Is there anything I should lose / add?

My budget is c.£2600 ideally - could go up to c.£3000 at a real push if really worth it. I have a Alienware AW3420DW monitor WQHD 3440 x 1440 at 120 Hz G-Sync which will be using

Some considerations below:

Case: Not a huge fan of the RGB fans on front of a case but like the lit up internals, will the Meshify S2 fit the cooler?
GPU: I dont know whether the 2080 Ti is worth the extra $$$? Would it make that much of a difference? I would likely upgrade every 3-4 years as have been replacing PC's this often.
CPU: Similarly for dipping the toe in streaming / creating short videos would the 3950X really make that much difference?
Wireless: will need to be wifi connected - I have a Linksys mesh tri-band network so in past have always just got the best wifi card i could for PCs but bit clueless here. Would i get away with the Intel wifi card?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Also contemplating dropping the HDD and replacing with 1TB INTEL® 660p SSD (looking into a basic NAS which might give me the storage need in future). Dropping to the Silver warranty can bring the price under 2620 although I'm quite keen on warranties

I would actually advise a few changes to save some cash and up the storage performance overall (given your thoughts on NAS).

As much as the 3900X is great for processing, it's WAY over what you need. The 3800X has you absolutely more than covered for any level of hobbyist editing & streaming along with being ideal for gaming.

There is really no need for 32GB of RAM. It's a waste of cash for your uses and doesn't make any odds for the future TBH.

Motherboard & GPU are spot on for your choices. STRIX motherboard is a premium but one worth spending where the budget allows. The 2080 Super is perfect for ultrawide. The 2080 Ti would be over-priced for this IMO, you won't gain a lot.

Storage I've opted to suggest the Evo for the primary drive (it's the fastest 500GB drive), for windows, software and maybe a game or 2. I've then selected the blistering firecuda for the bulk of your games and can double up as a cache drive for your editing needs.
The cooler I've lowered to the H100i. This is more than enough for this chip. I would call PCS and ask if the H115i fits with the config though as it's worth it if it does. Just heard issues with the radiator and RAM.

For the WIFI the AX200 is actually a better card than the high end one. It's aimed at low level 2.4Ghz throughput. The one I've selected is the new industry standard.

The rest was as you had it. You configured a great PC. IMO, it was just a bit over what you needed :)

Thanks a lot Scott - makes sense. Always fall in the - just to be safe for a few extra quid - trap. That looks like a winner at that price.

Put the savings towards your next PC upgrade in a year or 2!

My suggestion would be next gen 3080 type GPU and a Super-Ultrawide Monitor.
