Gaming crashes my computer. *help*

Hello all,

I hope you’re all.

I have recently started experiencing issues with my PC. I largely play games such as World of Warcraft and have a decent steam library. However the past couple of days when I have been trying to log on to Wow it has been crashing my computer.

I don’t mean crashing where an error message comes up but it just freezes the screen leaving no ability to exit out or ctrl alt dlt etc. Please forgive my lack of knowledge but I don’t know what is wrong. Any time I log into some games large chunks of the map doesn’t load either.

I have updated my drivers, checked my memory and all seems fine. I know very little about computers other than the basics but have no idea why this is suddenly happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Luke.

Is this a PCS system? Could you please post the full specs from your orders page?

Hello, thanks for the reply. Please see below:
Please, edit your post to remove the OS key before is stolen.

Are you experiencing the same problems in all games or just WoW? Which is your game drive?

In any case, I would do some stress tests to check the system's stability: my biggest concerns are the cooler and the PSU.

Ahh thank you. Edited the post.

It appears to be largely related to Wow. But so recently attempted to download the likes of Space Marine 2 and experienced the same issues.

I assume you mean Nvidia driver etc?

I have little to no experience regarding building computers and this make was done via help from this forum.

How have you updated drivers?

Can you post a screenshot of your optional updates page?

Are you still on Windows 10?

What AV are you using?

Space Marine 2 will have to have settings hugely reduced to even be able to run at all, it won't play at all well on 8GB VRAM

I just updated the nvidia drivers through the application on my computer.

I appear to still be on windows 10 and I checked and my computer appears to be crashing on other games I used to play without issue.

AV wise I use avast AV.

So you haven’t updated any other drivers?

can you post a screenshot of your optional updates page?

you need to fully uninstall avast, it will literally break your system and is irrelevant and worse than windows anyway.

Have you used any driver updater tools?

Hello, sorry for the delay.

I thought I only had to update through Nvidia but I will try and teach myself this evening.

I pay the yearly subscription to Avast do I no longer need to invest and anti virus and Microsoft handles?

I also discovered my system is incompatible with windows 11.

That's just the graphics, doesn't do the rest of the system

Avast is actually malware, you don't want it on your system, it will reduce security and heavily impact system performance and stability. Windows defender is far better anyway, there's no need for 3rd party AV's anymore since Windows 7

You can't uninstall Avast through windows, have to use the official uninstaller tool:

I also discovered my system is incompatible with windows 11.
That's not correct, it's fully compatible, but if it's saying it isn't it's because it's on a very outdated BIOS and if you update that, it will automatically set the right BIOS options to enable windows 11 compatibility.

Basically your system is well out of date by the sounds of it.

I wouldn't bother trying to patch it, I would just bite the bullet and do a full clean install with windows 11 (after updating the BIOS) and start from scratch.
