Gaming and streaming pc advice

Hi I want to get into gaming and streaming and I think this should be a high enough spec, any advice would be much appreciated.

I think the only thing I might need to add is extra fans? Also I’ll be pairing this with an Alienware 24.5in 240hz monitor.

Do you already have the monitor? Your GPU is for 1440p gaming, but your monitor will only run 1080p.

You might be advised an AMD build as they are better in general and also for the multi-core aspect of gaming/streaming.

People will be able to advise you perfectly for your needs

No I don’t have it yet but I’m pretty set on getting it... I like it a lot and I don’t care about 4K at all. How are AMD better in general? You mean like what you get for the price?

As Keith notes, do you already have the Alienware monitor as that will dictate what is or isn't needed as I believe to take full advantage of a 240Hz 1080p monitor, you will need the Ti (but I'm not an expert at that refresh rate). If you don't already have it, is there a particular reason for it as 240Hz is only really useful for competitive gaming where graphic quality is sacrificed.

Personally, with your budget, I'd be looking at an AMD 1440p 144Hz system but if you already have the monitor, it changes things somewhat
No I don’t have the monitor yet, yeah I want 240hz for competitive gaming... I want to get to a pro level and don’t want to be capped at 144 frames. Is AMD really better?

I’ve done a little research on amd and intel and it seems intel will fit my needs a little better, but yeah I did see that you get ‘more’ for your money with amd. Honestly as long as the pc can stream and play new game’s (mainly FPS) with good frames I’ll be happy! I’ll be playing a lot of games on low graphics to maximise FPS anyway. Thanks for the help, just one question... would you recommend more fans in the build because right now it only has the 3 that come with the case

Slightly over-budget but more powerful and a lot more fit for purpose. Note that I've selected Wifi but competitive gaming would be better via cable. If you don't need the Wifi you would be as well saving the £18.

Thankyou for the reply, I can easily stretch to that budget if it’s a lot more powerful? I don’t like the case though so can I use the case that I originally chose for the build? Also yeah I don’t need a WiFi card I’ll be wired.

I feel like a 1tb ssd is necessary would you not agree? And is Samsung ssd better then seagate?

one thing I’ve heard aswell is that aircooling is better then water cooling? It’s like half the price aswell

I know it’s silly but I have actually already ordered the PC build I originally posted because I’m impatient haha but only 2 days ago so I can just amend the order if I want to change the spec right?

Unfortunately you would normally need to cancel. You could call and ask to see if they will do it, but it's a completely different configurator that I've went from.

The build I've posted is more modern (it's the 1200 socket, the one you selected is very old)
The build I posted is also overclocked, this will eek out those extra FPS that you're looking for.

With the more modern platform and all manner of other things it's substantially better than your initial selection.

The case you selected is fine. It's just less premium than the H500. I've switched it back in the below build.

The storage was a budget thing more than anything else. I've selected an M2 drive which will be significantly faster than your original choices. I've switched it out for the 1TB PCS drive which isn't as fast as the Samsung but still night and day faster than any conventional SSD.

With cooling, the water cooler I've selected will be significantly better than any air cooler. Not sure where this information is coming from, high end water coolers have always out-performed high end air coolers.

Dropped the WIFI too...

What configurator did you use? Well I’m reluctant to cancel and re order because I’m super desperate to get a pc asap but also I want the best bang for my buck and by what you’re saying it seems like a no brainer to cancel and order the pc build you’ve configured as it suits my needs more and is only 100 quid extra. (I am financing the pc so I don’t know if that will cause a problem if I reorder?)

Yeah I just prefer the look of the td500 mesh and cooling will still be fine as far as I’m aware, should I get more fans as it only comes with 3?

okay sweet I wasn’t aware of the mk2 drives and yeah thanks they seem a lot better.

I just heard that aircooling is sufficient and normally cheaper but I’m more then happy to water cool if that’s the better option.

thanks again for the help I really appreciate it, I’m kicking myself that I didn’t post for advice before I ordered. (I always learn things the hard way)

The configurator I used is the "Overclocked PC" one, towards the right of the upper menu. With regards to the finance, if you pay the difference card or cash I think you would be fine (as long as they can amend your order). If you give them the unique URL I've provided you above, this will allow them to go in and possibly transfer it over.

Aircooling can be sufficient, and it's fantastic at reactive cooling, but for overclocked and getting maximum performance over long periods of time.... you want a good water cooler on there. I've got the big brother, the H115i Platinum, keeping my overclocked 9900k in check.

Okay ideal, yeah if I can pay the difference upfront that would be perfect. I’ll ring them this evening or tomorrow morning and see if it can be done. I’ll probably slightly tweak the build though and add some extra fans for exhaust and some led lighting.

alright awesome that’s good to know thanks for the advice, nice one!

thanks again much appreciated, have a good weekend!

I wouldn't really bother with extra fans. Remember that the AIO cooler has 2 additional fans to move the air too :)

Also, bare in mind the case will be RGB, the cooler will be RGB and the RAM will be RGB ;)

Not even 1 for exhaust? Okay sweet. Yeah I know but I like RGB😂 I think a strip would look good in the bottom and I can then change the colour of the pc to my mood haha

what AV software would you recommend, the bullguard for £12 seems like a good deal to me?

The AIO would be the exhaust. I would buy an RGB fan and fit it myself though, rather than go for the plain black ones.

I wouldn't add any AV software. Windows Defender is spot on and does as good a job as any, and it's built in.
