"Function over form" options for cooling

Come January, I am planning on getting a high end PC with a 5090 and a 9900x3d (if it is available by then). considering the 5090 is going to be massive, the case will be important. Since I am already splurging on high end parts, the budget is not a massive issue - but still, I do not want to waste money on items that get their value from RGB lights. So, I'm looking for advice on cooling components that are reputed to be high quality - pricy for their function and not RGB "gaming" lights or whatever.

I was thinking of getting a liquid cooler for the CPU, and a case that can handle the parts I am planning to get, with good airflow.

The liquid cooler seems to be for CPU only - what can i get to help out with the GPU cooling? extra fans on the case?

In case its important, here are the main components im planning to get:
Motherboard: Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7
GPU: RTX 5090
CPU: 9900x3d
PSU: 1200W Corsair Shift series

The GPU should not need extra cooling unless you're planning on overclocking it, or putting it in a restricted case.

BTW, why a 9900X3D and not a 9800X3D (for gaming only) or 9950X3D if you need lots of cores with X3D?

The 7900X3D is actually 2 CCDs both 6 core, it depends what happens this generation but previously it was only 1 six core that had X3D VCache so it was a step down in gaming performance from the 7800X3D and was pretty poor in multithreaded against the 7900x

It’s a bit of an odd chip that didn’t really fit any use cases.

It may well be different this generation and both 6 core CCDs will have 3D VCache

But I wouldnt bother trying to design anything now as everything will have changed come january

Yes, it won't be long before they're announced, so just sit tight, once we have confirmed details about specs, then we'd know more precisely what kind of cooling setup is required.
