Hi there. What will this PC be used for? For the majority of use cases AMD is the way to go with Intel trailing far behind at the moment. Changing to AMD would require a cancellation and re-order but it’ll be well worth it in my opinion. For more info as to why this is check out this thread: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/amd-vs-intel.72675/

If you’d like assistance with a build we’ll need to know your budget, use case and the monitor you’ll be using (make and model or resolution AND refresh rate)

Ignoring the Intel/AMD argument for a minute (which is stored as a sticky on here somewhere, so I won't repeat it), there are a few things I'd be changing at the same time as the PSU (or even if you stick with the current PSU):
  • REMOVE Bullguard (Windows built-in AV is fine)
  • As that Intel CPU is going to get hot, I'd upgrade the AIO to the new Corsair 115 Elite Capellix (much better value than the H100x)
  • REMOVE ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND (the AIO has compound pre-applied and is fine)
  • REMOVE the 'slow' Samsung 960 Evo SATA SSD (550/520mbps) [under 1st Storage drive]
  • ADD a 256GB Samsung m.2 970 Evo Plus SSD (3500/2300mbps) or a 512GB PCS m.2 SSD (2000/1000mbps) for the about same money [under 1st M.2 SSD Drive]
If you're only using it for gaming, then the 1000w PSU won't really be necessary - and whilst the HX is slightly 'better' than the RX (and the AX is the money-no-object option) - I don't feel there's £50 more value in the 850HXi over the RX850RMx (nor the £100 premium of the 1200HXi over the 1000RMx).

BTW, my sig shows I've got an 1000RXm...but only because the 850RMx was out of stock...my usage would have been perfectly fine with the 850RMx (gaming and a bit of Adobe Creative Suite).

I mostly use the PC for gaming, anything else will be less strenuous, I have 2 Samsung 32-inch 4k ultra HD 3840x2160 monitors and hope to get a 3rd. 59hz refresh.

Realistically you don't need to spend anywhere near 4K for an incredible gaming PC build. A PC like this will still give you a great experience.

For Gaming, the Ryzen 7 5800X is a fantastic CPU. If you'll be doing any video editing, streaming digital design, motion graphics or heavy productivity work then you could upgrade to the Ryzen 9 5900X. For gaming, realistically, you'll only need 32GB if you play MSFS, or heavily modded titles otherwise 16GB is adequate. Or if you do any of the tasks above then you will need the 32GB (and some may require 64GB). If you're looking to game on a single one of those monitors, then the 3080 will be a great card, if you want to end up doing triple monitor, I'm unsure if a 3090 will even handle 4K triple screen. I will say that 3080 wait times are long, about 4 months. If you'd rather not wait as long, the 3090 has more like a 2 month wait but is another £800 for the convenience. For storage, there's a lightning fast Gen 4 SSD for Windows and programs, then a 2TB SSD for all your games and a 2TB HDD for all your general files (documents, photos, videos). As has been said before, the RMx 850W will be fine for gaming on a 3080. If you step up to the 3090, I would recommend a 1000W PSU. The Ryzen 7 5800X will want some serious cooling, so I've gone for a top of the line Corsair H115i AIO CPU Cooler. For wireless connection, the AX200 will be all you need. The anti-virus has been knwon to cause issues so has been removed and the silver warranty is well worth the £5, although looking at the value of this build I'd consider stepping up to the Gold or Platinum warranty for that extended coverage.

Case
CORSAIR iCUE 5000X RGB MID TOWER GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Eight Core CPU (3.8GHz-4.7GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4)
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING (USB 3.2 Gen 2, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX) - ARGB Ready!

10GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 - HDMI, DP

Haha! No worries. Realised I left in some Extra case fans I didn't mean to. Edited the spec and the link to remove them. The 3 fans the Case has and the 2 fans the AIO adds should be sufficent. If you'd like some more fans, you could add a 3 pack of the (very pretty and very RGB) Corsair LL fans which can be mounted to the side of the case, although that will be up to the builder and they might decide on a better layout.

And thanks, I might have to take you up on that offer ;) 😂

Agree the 5800x and the 3080 will be a brilliant gaming PC and perform better than an i9. Proper high refresh 4k gaming is doable on a 3080 but if you want high settings over 60FPS you may struggle. Saying that 1440p gaming is more than enough imo and that system will crush it.

Again guys really appreciate it, I take it no objection in maybe upgrading a few bits, I'll take all your comments into account and not change the core stuff, but I do have a larger budget and would like the ultimate machine, for example the case looks exactly like my current case and I had to remove the front because the air flow wasn't great, I also have 2 SSD hard drives from my old pc I will import, I might as well go RTX 3090, throw the 1000w power supply in because WTFN, and I do like an extra LED because the girlfriend hates it... sound ok?

Yea Junior tap me up, I could definitely sort you out.

Thanks again gents.

Agreed. Although OP said the monitors they have are 59hz and I wouldn’t exactly call that ‘high refresh rate’ 😂 If you were to scale back to 1440p for all the games you play you could comfortably use a 3070 or even 3060TI. Although, it feels like a waste to have 4K monitors and never use them for 4K gaming.

Realistically, you basically have the ultimate gaming experience. The 3080 is an incredible card and will perform well for years. I know many people that would dream of a system like this 😂

For the case, you could change the the 500D Airflow which will as the name suggests have much better airflow. Although you’d have to add more fans as it only comes with 2. I’d recommend calling up PCS once you’ve ordered and adding 3 or 4 of the LL fans as the configurator doesn’t let you.

What SSD’s do you have/ plan to put in? Then we can work out what storage you’ll want around that.

The 3080 will comfortably support your 4K 60hz monitors and realistically there’s no need to go 3090 unless you go for a 4K 144hz monitor (which, yes do exist) instead of a 3rd 60hz one. Although with the much reduced wait time and the insane budget, I can understand why it’s worth justifying. If you do go 3090 you’ll want the RMx1000W PSU.

And the LED’s sound good! I’ll make sure to add them all when I reconfigure after knowing the SSD info 😂

@JUNI0R has done a great job and specced you a lovely build that many of us, myself included, will envy.

Mentioning potential upgrades to maximise your budget, I would be remiss if I didn’t recommend you to at least consider the Samsung Odyssey G9. Given that you have a two monitor setup already I think that you’ll benefit from the G9 as a Superwide 49 inch behemoth; essentially 2 27 inch monitors side by side in a single package.
While 1440p might seem like a downgrade, the trade off is a 240hz refresh rate which will be fantastic on any FPS or racing title, impressive response with G-sync, and immersion unparalleled by a standard resolution 4K display.

Adding this to your build still keeps things under £4000, and it means that you’ll have an amazing gaming machine paired with an amazing gaming monitor.

And very true. The G9 is one of the most insane monitors ever. If you want dream build, it's definitely worth a look, espeically if it fits in the budget!
