First time customizing a PC

Hi all.
I am a newbie in building my own pc. I am trying to keep it near the £1500 budget (with VAT and all) but keeping in mind for upgrades in the future.
i mostly game fps and bit of a video edit. I have got an HP 25x 1080p 144hz as an external to a laptop using hdmi 2.1

8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3060 Ti - HDMI, DP, LHR --- is this overkill for the ryzen 5? is rtx 2000 series still okay?

It's a good start but could do with a couple of tweaks, what monitor have you got (resolution & refresh rate or make & model), also can you post the configuration link that you'll find at the bottom of the spec

Ok I've tweaked your build a bit, changed to a better case, given you a better cooler and upped the PSU to a 750W RMx which is a modular unit that will give you good overhead for future upgrades,k ok it's a little over budget but will give you a really good base that will last for a good few years, Ive left your keyboard in but you could probably do better elsewhere

Thanks Martin, I actually chose the Lancool 215 case before but i thought I could lessen the budget by lowering the case cost.

You don't want to scrimp on the case, it's actually one of the most important parts of the build, you want something with good airflow to enable good cooling

Yeah an unsuitable case can act like an oven and end up cooking the parts inside. High end components tend to give off a lot of heat so it's important that you're able to dissipate that heat and a good case can help with that almost passively. This helps ensure the health of the system

I would replace the Samsung 970 with the Samsung 980 Pro, remove the extra case fans (if you need the fans you probably need a better case) drop Bullguard (causes problems) and increase the warranty to Silver (only £5). The cooler you have selected is not currently available, so you really have the choice of the standard AMD cooler, or upgrading to the H100i Elite Capellix, as there isn’t really an equivalent in its price range.
