First PC in 10 years - pls can I get a sense check?

Hi, thanks in advance for the help. My PC running a 960 has finally given up on me and I’m looking for an upgrade.
I am quite set on a white PC even though that limits options and ups the cost. My max budget is £1700 but I really would like to keep it around £1600. My main concern is around the CPU as not sure if it’s a bit “late” to be getting this one for a PC that I hope will last over 5 years. I also feel quite out of touch with components now so would appreciate a general sense check of these parts and if they will work well together.

Will be using the PC for gaming, mostly FPS, mobas, but hoping to get into games I’ve had to miss out on eg RDR2 and Baldurs Gate

Monitor: not very special, 1080p benq monitor provided by my work. Likely will buy a 1440 one in a few months.

What OS is your present pc running and what do you intend doing with it, if its running w10 and you aren't going to use it anymore, then you don't need to buy another copy of Windows, which will give you avoid £100 you can put into the system

I have w10 but an OEM licence - I did a bit of research and not sure if it’s easily (or legally?) transferable? I won’t be doing anything else with it though

I would like to change the motherboard in honesty. I don't like the micro boards in general. Far too much tech in the real estate, corners cut IMO. Making things small doesn't make them better at this level. It gets reasonable reviews though so I won't argue with the contrasting price of the X670. The white is costing a lot though. You are paying through the nose for it. A 7800X3D would be on the cards otherwise, and that's a jump and a half for FPS.

Build I would work with below based on budget. Not much changed in honesty but well worth it on the cooler. There's the new cooler from Corsair but I don't know enough about it as yet, just spotted it there. The H150i is bigger and known for very little more so worth sticking with. I wouldn't go near the cooler you were sitting with. Not so much for the 7600, as it shouldn't struggle, but it's always nice to do nothing for your next CPU upgrade on the board. The H150i is likely to last your next 2 systems in honesty.

Thanks for the advice!
I wanted to see how much I could save by not limiting myself to white components and I came out with the below. It doesn’t actually save that much, and reaches £1790 if I select the 7800X3D. Unless using black components means there’s cheaper options I could go for instead?
Got the same build with black components below with your suggested changes (including a full size mobo):

It might not seem like much but £100 towards the 7800X3D is quite a sensible choice.

With that being said, you're right on the cusp of the next gen X3D chips coming out. If you can hold off I would wait for a look see. If not then either of the above are fine if you're sticking with the 7600.

The only other consideration I would put to you is the PSU. The 750w RMe is a great bit of kit but it'll be limited to around the 4070/Ti tier. The next gen card rumours are very high in the power department. Not sure how much truth there is in it, but it might be worth considering the 1200w Shift (All the current PSUs in between the 750 and the 1200w shift are ATX2.x and not worth looking at IMO).
