Thanks for your help Maestro. I'll call up and change to 680 SLI. and spend the extra money on an upgraded psu from the site.

Maestro could you check something for me please, I just called up to change and got told to change from the 690gtx to the 2x 680 sli would cost me around £60 Where as I thought I would be saving around £40 and also when building the exact same set up I've chosen on the site it comes up as cheaper as well. Oo

I see what's happened since I originally ordered prices have went up. Before it was cheaper to get 2x680's by around £40 rather than a 690. But now it's more to get 2x 680's.

So basically I either pay the extra on what I could have had cheaper at the time knowing the 690 was out of stock or wait for whenever you get a 690.

Rock and a hard place. :(

Difficult place to be, prices do vary but I'd probably go with the GTX 680 SLI.

Problem is when I originally made the order they were cheaper. I was willing to change and I would have had £41 credit but now if I change I owe them around £60.

Personally I don't see this as being very fair as at the time if I knew there were no 690's I would have went 680 sli. Now they have on the site that the 690's are pre order but this wasn't the case when I ordered.

I spoke to Darren who said prices have changed.

The way I see it because I got my 690 cheaper, they would be better off changing to 680's for me for free instead of waiting for the 690 as it would save them money anyway.

what model 680's are you going for? 2gb presume?

damn, its a tough one, both choices are ace, two 680's are beast, a single 690 is a beast.

If it was my rig, i'd go for the 690, because cooling two cards is alot harder than cooling a single card, I have dual 580's and they can get a bit toasty! That being said, the 680's are alot cooler than the 580's.

What size psu do you have mate? Also mobo?

The GTX 690 should be cooler than 2 GTX 680 SLI since it is slightly underclock, I'd still go for 2 GTX 680 SLI. It may take a while for the GTX 690 to arrive and considering all the peripherals you purchased I'd be pretty impatient with my order.

Spec on the first page, I changed from 2700k OC'd to a 3770k OC'd

I would rather have the 690 but because now they don't have them in stock which I did not know at the time or was contacted about, I thought I would change to 2x680's.

As I stated above at the time of ordering it would have been cheaper for me to go 2x680 over the 690 by around £40 and if I knew they didn't have the 690 I would have. Just seems a bit silly now instead of saving around £40 now if I changed I would have to spend an extra £60.

The way I see it they would be better of changing it over for me for no charge as they would actually save money, because if I leave my order and wait it's going to cost them more for the 690 rather than 2x680.

I would be willing to go 680 sli, but I'm not paying extra when they are actually cheaper and if anything I should be getting cash back for changing not paying an extra £60.

you will have to ask pcs for the official verdict really mate, although I'd prefer the 690 as it will run cooler and maybe with less power.

plus you could upgrade to a 1050w psu AND add another 690 in the future

I will wait Tom as I'm not paying more to change when In theory I should be getting cash back. Just strange because if they let me change they would have saved money.

its possible that the price of 680's has gone up due to such a high demand.

nice spec by the way :) although i'd get a mod psu :)

When you ordered your pc, you paid £799 for your GTX 690. Since this time we have put the price up to £899 simply because this is what the cost has gone upto due to there very limited supply. The cost of the GTX 680 we currently have in stock is £429. Therefore 2 x gtx 680's will be £858 and you have £799 credit with us.

I understand this but if I decide to wait which I am It's going to cost you guys more money to give me the 690 than 2 680's. So really it's the company's loss.

You guys could actually save £41 by giving me the 2 680's.

Not unless PCS ordered the GTX 690 at an agreed price of £799 and they are just waiting for delivery of those.

Very true Ruben I didn't think of that. But then again they could have sold it at the up-marked price on another system.

So either way they lose £41.
