Why didn't you went for ivy bridge as they would perform better with the graphics card?

Overclocked 2700k runs faster and a lot cooler, only real difference in ivy bridge is the integrated graphics. If I wasn't choosing them OC'd I would have went with Ivy Bridge.

sweet jesus thats an epic spec. You gonna post some pics when it arrives?
PS Let us know some benchmarks with that badass GPU ;)

i'd get ivy, as it offers pci 3.0, that the 690 needs to run at 100%, on that rig (due to 2700k not supporting pci 3.0) you would only get pci 2.0 speeds, so would cause a bottleneck for the gpu.

overclocking doesnt really offer much for gaming anyway.

and the fact ivy bridge supports PCI 3.0 which is better for the new graphics cards

Also read tom_gr and what he said..

Thank you! I made the change to the 3770k OC'd

Just an update, it's in it's 9th day of pre-production and the rep I just spoke to has no idea when they'll get gtx 690's in. I asked about the gtx 680's as I would have swapped for two of these but also didn't know when they were going to get these either :(

Sucks having nearly £1000 of peripherals to look at and nothing to plug them into.

do you know who you talked to. We have plenty of gtx 680's in. Gtx 690 on the other hand are nowhere to be seen. I check other sites such as ebuyer, scan regularly and they dont have any either.

Yes Maestro his name was Darren. Sorry I cant remember his surname.

Overclockers did have a few 690s a few days ago but they've got none now either. The reason I asked about the 680's as I would be willing to swap for two of them. As the 690's seem to be a myth.

Don't know if it makes a difference or not but scan currently does have some MSI GTX 690's for sale.

No it wouldnt im afraid. Cards are coming into the uk, albeit very small quantities, and companies such as these are getting one or two. But it will literally be one or two. Nowhere near enough are coming in to satisfy demand. If you wish you can oder one of these cards and send it to us.

if you called up the refund on the gtx 690 would be actioned straight away, but it would take a couple of days to appear back in your bank
