My t-shirt and blu-ray are ready for shipping...chockity!
ETA: they've arrived...with an added bonus Final Space t-shirt...to boldly go into my unopened t-shirt drawer alongside my Regent Street Apple Store opening event t-shirts from 2004
If anyone is on the fence about the graphic novel, the cut off time for pre-orders isn't until September 1st, so you've got some time left.
They're making good progress, they post weekly updates on Fridays on social media, I tend to just read the general update but they post screen grabs of artwork that I try my best to ignore as don't want any spoilers.
For any of you awaiting the book, Olan has just posted this on Twitter, it is looking like quite a chonkers book!!!
"Printed all the pages out. Now this isn’t front and back. We’re putting it together in a binder to make sure our double pages line up and to see it physically. Lots of work still to be done in polish with inking and coloring but we’re getting there slowly but surely!"
So, as it's Christmas tomorrow, thought I'd check on the recent updates on progression on Twitter. This is Olan's penultimate update, the latest just being an addition to this
Lettering is done! Were still polishing Parts 4 & 3. Parts 5 and 7 are done are inking. There's still pages throughout we need to fix, I even want to add 1 or 2 more pages in Part 8 to really make sure two moments hit as hard as possible. So were not done with inking but were close. Then it will be coloring. And nothing is making this go faster, everything I attempt to go faster I have to fix the color because it's not up to par with everything else. So the answer is let the artist do their thing. Were starting to put all the pages together to form are master pdf. print file. We have to do this for the Black and White and a version for the color. Focus is on black and White since coloring is still happening. Me and Seth has been doing this throughout the night and then working in the days. I would say we're burning the candle at both ends but there is no more candle to burn haha I'm so tired I can't even really sleep but there is too much to get done. Joe, one of our colorist is out sick. Val is about done with his pages on Part 6 I'll then probably move him to Part 7 or Part 5. Haven't decided. Once Daz is done he'll be on coloring Part 8. I'm getting samples sent to me from the printer or a few different paper types. The one I'm holding is WAY to heavy to the point I fear the book wouldn't hold together. Once I saw comments talking about this I started having nightmares about it sooo I'm exploring a few different paper options. I'm a sucker for matte but I'm being told gloss is better for color so I may do gloss for the color and matte for the black and white. Not sure, this is all stuff I'm trying to figure out. I'll know more when the new samples get to me. That's it for now. I'm updating today because I genuinely know I'm going to crash hard at some point and I have a feeling it may be Friday. I'll try to update then as well but for now that's where I'm at. -Olan

And an additional bit of news which I'm so excited for, the music really struck me in the series, it was quite masterfully done. The original composers, Jake Sidwell and Andrew Goodwin, are writing new music for this book! They will somehow tie it in with the progression of the story, they've mentioned about putting QR codes in at relevant parts of the book, and it streaming automatically from that. Olan says if the worst comes to the worst, they'll just host the playlist somewhere like Spotify and people can access it that way.
But as this is new music, they'll have full rights to it, so I expect further merch to be available, and am holding out for a vinyl copy.
