Feedback/help appreciated!

Hi, I’m looking to migrate from console to PC and so this will be my first proper PC. I’m aiming to play games such as Dead By Daylight, and also some open world games such as GTA, Assassins Creed Valhalla, Watchdogs Legion and Hogwarts Legacy when it comes out. Budget is around £1200 for the build. Ideally would like to play in at least 1080p and minimum 60 FPS (low expectations because coming from console lol).

With the Graphics Card, I didn’t know if I should go for AMD ryzen 5600 XT or the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 as from what I’ve read, they’re fairly similar. Also not sure if the motherboard is suitable for the CPU, or if I should go for one that is higher or lower.

not entirely sure on what to pick for a monitor, would like to spend £200 max for it and would like at least 144 Hz, 1080p and around 23/24”, any suggestions appreciated!

That looks Ok, I'd go with the 2060 as unfortunately AMD don't have a very good reputation for their drivers, if the budget allows I'd also add a second M.2 for saving games on, the PCS 1TB one will do for this

I would deffo up the warranty to Silver, if memory serves it's only £6 extra. Are you buying the 2060 due to the newer generation cards being out of stock or price (not sure if they are more expensive?), however I would deffo hold out for the 3000 series.

and just wondering, if I was to get an SSD just to have games on it, would there still be a point of having a smaller 256GB one? Just trying to wrap my head around why I would need a HDD and then two SDDs, would 1TB SDD and 2TB HHD be enough?

and also is the 2060 decent, or should I pick a different graphics card?

thanks for the advice, I haven’t looked into the technicals but I will once I’m closer to making an order. And I just chose the 2060 as I saw some reviews that basically said it’s pretty similar to the Radeon RX 5600 XT. Is there a specific one that you would recommend (I’m not really expecting to be playing on like ultra settings and stuff so I’m not looking for the best of the best)?

Ok to answer the SSD question, you have the smaller faster drive for the OS and programs that need to be on the C drive, then the second slightly slower one that i advised is where you put your games, then the HDD for documents etc that don't need a fast drive, doing this, if you ever need to clean install windows, you don't need to redownload all your games as well

The 2060 is fine for 1080p

Ah yeah it’s not available at the moment. I’ve tried looking at the 3060TI and that’s also got a bit of a wait too, its also like £200 over my ideal budget. Are the AMD graphics cards really not worth it?

PIcking up on a few points - I'm running a 2060 Super, and it's fine for the sort of gaming you're talking about. I'm running a 1440p monitor and running 1440p 80-90 fps on "AAA" titles (Metro Exodus, FarCry 5 etc.) with high-to-ultra graphics settings. The standard 2060 would be fine for 1080p. That being said, buying a 2060 now is a bad idea - the NVidia 30-series cards are way better for basically the same price. Unless you need the PC yesterday, wait till you can get either the standard 3060 or the 3060Ti. This gives you the option to upgrade to a 1440p monitor in future as well without having to change GPUs.

If there's a trade-off to be made on cost, a better GPU would be more beneficial for the sort of gaming you've mentioned than a better CPU, so downgrading to a 3600x rather than 5600x could be worthwhile if that's needed to get to a better GPU - although CPU is harder to upgrade in future. As an added bonus, the AMD stock cooler on the 3600x and 3600xt is perfectly fine for gaming use, so you wouldn't need the additional liquid cooler, so there's an additional cost saving there.

More minor points - if you're getting an RGB strip, don't you want RGB RAM as well / instead? For the PSU, the RMx is a better unit (quieter, more efficient, I think also more reliable) than the TXm - although they should both be fine.

Thanks so much, guess then that’s more than enough for my use case. I guess in that case I’ll wait for the 3060 whenever it’s available. I’m still saving up a little bit and was planning on ordering in the next month or so, but since there’s a shortage of stock, should I order now or will the wait be relatively okay when I order in a few months? Guess I could pay off like half now and then the rest in a few months time, but I’d need to check on how the financing works.

and I had no idea that RGB ram was a thing, but I selected it now haha.
