Faulty RAM?

We love you Ukraine
I think I have exhausted the amount of testing I can do and would be good to get everyone's view on what I should potentially do next.

In summary, I have learned the following:
1. both my old and new ram sets ( 2 sets of 2 x 8 GB) work fine in slots A2/B2 at 3600MHz
2. When I put either set in slots A1/B2 I get boot errors until I reduce the speed to 3266 MHz
3. I can have all four sticks in the machine and boot at 3266MHz and the system appears stable, however when I run memtest the errors quickly rack up - I got more than 7000 errors in just under 40 mins of testing - see link below

So my conclusions are the following:
A. The Ram does not appear to be faulty based on point 1 above
B. The bios for the Asus B550 board is not yet stable and a future update may resolve it, or
C. I have faulty ram slots / motherboard or potentially CPU

Therefore I either RMA the system or wait for a Bios update. Or potentially try and see if I can get hold of 2 x 16 GB sticks, which may work in the A2/B2 slots.

What do you guys think?
I would contact PCS and get them replaced with 2 x 16.

The performance impact from 2 x 16 is minimal really, certainly not worth RMA.

I'm not convinced there are issues with the RAM, I think they're healthy sticks, I think it's a board issue, as you say, very likely the BIOS not coping well with the 4 DIMM setup over 3200MHz

The testing you've done is very thorough, I would point PCS to this thread and give them a call.

I concur.

(I've always wanted to say that, ever since I saw DiCaprio say it in Catch Me If You Can. Thanks for the opportunity! :))

Thanks both. I was leaning that way too so good to hear that you agree :)

I don't think PCS does 16GB sticks at 3600MHz so might just have to drop down to 3200MHz, but so be it.

Thanks again for your help.

No looks as though they have removed the 3600MHz RAM again

Hi @MicSve did you manage to resolve this problem? have a similar issue and am RMAing back to PCS on Thursday.
I decided to return the 2 additional sticks in the end and stay at 16 GB @3600MHz for now, which is running without any issues. Most likely I will buy 2 x 16gb sticks at some point.

I am convinced that it is bios issue and can see that Asus have released two new versions since I had my issue. Worth speaking to PCS and get permission to update your bios and see if that fixes it before you RMA.

There have been people posting who have had no issues with 4 sticks 3600MHz RAM recently...their motherboards were on a newer BIOS...I believe a November ASUS BIOS update deals with it as it lists "Fixed DRAM compatibility" (or something along those lines) which, to me, would be a fix for the issues.

It may well be that PCS have only recently started using the updated BIOS, perhaps waiting to see if it's stable/doing their own testing. I would agree that anyone running 4 sticks of 3600MHz RAM on an ASUS board should get in touch with PCS and get permission to update their BIOS (not getting permission will invalidate your warranty in all likelihood so permission is important)
Which is the newest bios version for the strix X570 f ?
My PC arrived November 23rd so will still have whatever bios it came with.

I have had a few issues with my 4x 8gb 3600 ram but I currently have it running at 3600 now and its been fine for the past two days.
I guess if I run into issues again perhaps then get in touch with PCS?
But with it working now may as well leave it.

I'm not convinced this is just a glitch that is resolved simply by updating the BIOS. This feels like some sort of timing issue perhaps, because it mostly affects the 3600MHz RAM cards. Hopefully it can be resolved or at least mitigated by a BIOS update, but I wouldn't bet on that.

There have been people using the Nov BIOS (that works for at least one person) still having problems.

I did report this to PCS customer care a couple of weeks ago and they are investigating.

For some users downclocking to 3200MHz seems to help, but that doesn't seem to work for all. Running just two RAM cards resolves this issue for all.

Hi there,

Was told to post my set up here, I've been having similar problems to you all apparently.

So I got my order on Saturday and set it up. When I turned it on for the first time I got 1 long beep and 2 short ones and there was no signal to either monitor. Tried everything, didn't know what was wrong.

Yesterday morning got the same problem but it then booted anyway. This morning I've popped out all the RAM in and out and it now seems to be fine. I'm just concerned once I turn it on again tomorrow morning it'll do the same thing. I've contacted PCS so we'll see what they say, I've had good feedback on here already too :)

That's a Parity Error which is RAM related. I think this is just another example of the way this issue manifests itself.

Can you please post your details on this survey thread please? (Just your CPU model, your motherboard model, your RAM type and model please)> I'm trying to get a handle on how widespread this issue is. :)
