Fastest laptop for video editing & animation. Adobe creative apps.

Looking to add a new monster laptop to existing PCS Valeon bought in 2021 (still going great!)...
Valeon Series: 17.3" Matte QHD 165Hz sRGB 100% LED Widescreen (2560x1440)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen™ 9 Eight Core Processor 5900HX (3.3GHz, 4.6GHz Turbo)
Memory (RAM)
64GB Corsair 2666MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 32GB)
Graphics Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3080 - 16.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1

Cost isn't an issue (it's my business) so it seems that the 17" RECOIL with all the top specs configured (inc. water-cooler) is a no-brainer at c.£3K plus VAT? Anything to bear in mind at this stage? Anything new on the near horizon that means I should hold back and wait?

Cheers
Bill

What’s your reason for upgrading?

Reason I ask, is generation to generation isn’t going to get you much of a boost. The new chassis are normally announced at CES in January, if it were me I’d wait for those as it will net a greater gain in performance.

With the debacle going on with Intel 13th and 14th gen CPUs also possibly affecting mobile cpus, I just wouldn’t risk it personally

OK, thanks for the heads-up!

Not upgrading really, I need another machine to take care of multiple tasks - rendering/effects processing while I edit away. Need it in a month or so for a specific project coming up that's heavy on the after effects side which currently stops me from editing while rotoscoping etc.

Maybe a desktop is an option as 80% of my work is office-based (some on-site editing every now and then). Thoughts on spec. for similar money (3K-ish ex VAT)? Will the CPU issue affect a desktop option anyway?

Thanks again.

As above. I've been disappointed with the AMD offerings in the configs of late.

Youd get far more performance from a desktop at the equivalent budget, but Intel are completely compromised on desktop too if you read the attached, an AMD system would be far better anyway for longevity as can accommodate cpu updates guaranteed now to be 2027

For desktop (which is definitely the way I would go for a proper workhorse) I land on the below. Note that it should be more seen as a placeholder as the next generation 9950X is out next week. It will offer a lot more performance in the CPU intensive operations. My guess is it will be there or there abouts in cost though. It may be a little more but it shouldn't be a crazy amount more.
