Fans not speeding up when hot

Just for reference, this was the last email I received, the second to say that its safe and wont damage the laptop:

100c is thermally throttling. Saying “it won’t damage the laptop” is redundant, the CPU can not operate within normal thresholds under those temps.

The point is, whilst 94c is “manageable”, if there is still 50% fan capacity that’s available then it’s certainly not optimal and most users would prefer lower temps sacrificing some noise. I would say mid to high 80’s would be optimal on any CPU. That chassis obviously has no problems cooling, so that should be utilised.

Also on a side note, having a massive issue with the wifi, my other two laptops gave the same speed when wired as they do on the wifi but this PRO XI gets appauling speeds. Currently downloading from steam at 382.9 kbps, normally this should be around >4.0MBs (comparing my other laptop), having reset the router, changed it. tried all channels on 2.4/5ghz nothing has worked.

So far the only thing that has been good about this laptop is its spec and price. Plus the RGB keyboard...

Well that answers it. Think I'll defo be requesting a refund and going elsewhere. Can't have a gaming laptop that doesn't use the fans efficiently

Sounds a serious issue then! I'm nervous about leaving it on overnight to copy stuff onto the hard-drive, in case something serious happens.

Is it the 15 or 17 inch Vyper you have? How are temperatures generally? Have you tested how hot it gets with any games yet?

Control Centre itself is using the most GPU:
The temp is currently 86 deg.

Have you installed the control centre app from tech support -> downloads section of your account (on the PC Specialist website)? I'm wondering if you can adjust the fan curves in that?

yes tried that, the fans just don't seem to kick in automatically.
Interestingly I closed control centre for 5 mins, then re-opened it and the temp went down to 77 deg (from 86 deg)

You will need to uninstall bullguard fully, just use windows defender, it's actually better. We've had a lot of problems generated from bullguard.

In that taskmgr screenie, you're GPU is at 50% load, but control center is only using 10% so something is hammering your GPU that isn't listed there.

OK uninstalled Bullguard, no real change after re-booting and not running anything other than this forum page on MS Edge, temp has risen to 78 deg and climbing. I think I'll shut the laptop down, it's too dangerous to leave overnight copying files over.

Before you shut it down, what are the resource uses in taskmgr? You can sort by section, so you should be able to see what's using the resources. I can't understand why it's under such high load.

Hi I'd given up for the night before I saw your post. I did sort by section to try to work it out. Control centre was using about 10-12% gpu constantly, and the gpu would bounce between 10% and 50%, but only for a split second at 50%, allocated to 'system' or anything else that was running i.e ms edge, snip tool etc... It just seems the temp just climbs whether the GPU is being used or not. I don't think it should be in the 90s just ideling tho. Also I don't know if this is significant or not, but when I click fan boost to manually turn the fans on, they're clearly working as they're quite loud as youd expect, but any other fan setting you can't here them at all. So either they're super quiet or just not working. It's like I can have them on full blast or not at all. Overall I think this could be a fan or gpu card software issue or theres a problem with the fan or gpu card hardware, I don't really know. Il have to contact pc specialist today and see what they say. I hope I don't have to send the laptop back, or worse still ask for a refund.
