Extreme laptop slowdown (solved)

We love you Ukraine
No need to say sorry it's nice to have a safety reminder. I'm going through the drivers page at the moment, just finished downloading all the zip files and it's going to take a bit to go through them. Hope to be ready for the Steam test in the next hour.

Windows will install most and those are the ones you want, not the downloaded ones.

The only downloaded ones you should need are graphics and possibly chipset.

Downloaded everything for safety, even added USB Charge Plus but I did skip the bloatware- 7.3GB into trying to do the Steam Team Fortress 2 test (problem normally pops up at 600mb-1.2GB) and here is the Performance Monitor data for comparison to earlier screens:
Currently downloading at my maximum 6.6 MB/s broadband speed.

So far the download is maintaining maximum speed. I don't want to assume anything too early but I'm glad it's resolved. The only problem I have now is Hard Disk Sentinel won't display the SSD's temperature instead giving an error message. But feeling the drive for myself it doesn't seem anything I should worry about.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to troubleshooting this issue and helping me resolve it (fingers crossed!)

Now that's more like it (the queue depth I mean). It would appear that there is an issue with the old HDD.

Keep us posted. :)

Hello all,

This is the requested update. I thought two weeks would be a good safety margin. Short version is the system is working perfectly. I've only encountered a stuttering freeze (audio got stuck etc) on one occasion and that was during a time of huge system load with almost 100 Chrome tabs open and other programs going on. So completely my fault there. If curious I needed to export mass url's so had to open all from a page and then use the TabCopy Chrome extension.

All download types have been working fine since swapping out to the SSD. I still haven't managed to get Hard Disk Sentinel to detect the SSD temperature but I'm not worried. So, yep, that's it. The system is working now how it should've from the start. Want to say again thanks to all for giving me the much needed push to install the SSD.

That's it for this thread, thanks to all that helped. As a little amusing gift you may want to check out this recent video from YouTube if you haven't already. It was both funny and shocking to me (regarding an SSD)
