Entry/midrange build for older games

Alright, I'll ditch IGPU on the processor [5600G -> 5600] and swap to Corsair 5000D. Everything else I reckon can stay as is.
Sorry for wasting everyone's time, I'm quite illiterate when it comes to hardware, if only because I've been out of the loop for a long time.
5000D also looks like a better case, since the PSU compartment isn't fully "locked off" compared to 4000D/MeshifyC/Lancool.
I think you're finding problems that aren't there. On all those cases, the PSU lane and drives aren't locked off, they're completely accessible, just from the other side.

It's the same with the games, you're finding early reports of bugs that were fixed years ago and assuming it means you can't run them

Try to stop reading too much into things, have faith that we will recommend a good system.

Can you copy and paste the full specs you've ordered just so we can see?

The build is the same as I linked above for Aza, just with the case and cpu changed, that's all.

I do have faith in recommendations from people far more tech literate and experienced than me, I'm just not familiar with shifts in hardware design.

If I sound dumb, that's because I am, and I have no shame admitting that I know barely anything about current tech.
If I sound paranoid, that's because I want to make sure I'll get a solid computer that will last me another however many years, without any regrets or second guessing.

I dont think anyone is saying you sound dumb or paranoid, I think youve tried to take a lot of info in very quickly and its spun you about.
Spyder is also right about being worried by old reviews/articles that highlight issues that have since been sorted out. Be careful with research, if its not a current article then theres every chance the issue has been addressed (especially in this kind of market).

If you use post to forums on your order as it currently stands, it gives a clear break in seeing where you are up to so far as well as what amendments have been made.

You can go in through your PCS account, use the order details>my orders in the menu and then click on show next to the main order on the right hand side, should then be an option to post to forums. (scroll right to the bottom)

Just one more thing, Columbo-style.
As previously mentioned, my monitor is rather old, but still works. However, most new cards only support DP and HDMI. My monitor does not have a DP socket, only DVI, D-SUB and HDMI. According to the sticker on the back, the manufacturing date is may 2013, so I have no idea which HDMI revision it could support.

With all this in mind, I started casually browsing monitors based on the most recent Hardware Unboxed video that was posted in peripherals section, but then I remembered that PCS also offer a wide selection of monitor cables. But then again, there are various DP revisions as well, newest one being 1.4 if memory serves.

Given that I already went with a rather pricy desktop, I'd prefer to hold off on upgrading a monitor and amend the order to include a DP-to-DVI cable. Is this a good idea or are there other options I could explore?

Damn, if only my monitor waited 5 months before calling it quits, I'd be on 2.0 :p
But thanks, I imagine it's just a case of plugging the cables in, no extra drivers or messing with configs?

I would say you're wasting money on the professional version of windows.

In your shoes I would probably use the difference to bump the primary drive to the 980 pro.

Rest looks fine to me and should serve you very well :)

I very much hope it does, since this little toaster failed to POST twice in the last few days.
Anyway, it's already in testing/QA, so I hope 970 doesn't have an insane failure rate compared to 980.
