Hi PCSpecialist Network,

I was hoping somebody more experienced would mind casting their eye over my comp spec. Hardware is required to operate REVIT / CAD and thermal modelling software. As well as marking up many PDF documents in Bluebeam which can be slow on 'normal machines'.

CPU - Can't decide between AMD R 3800XT or 5800X anyone have a preference?
Motherboard - Will this impact audio / speaker capabilities? The Audio options confuse me somewhat
GPU - I'm not a huge gamer so don't think I need anything too fancy. Absorbed many reviews on the 8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 5700 XT seems pretty good to me.
Power supply - quiet v normal think it matters too much?
Operating System: None. I have a Windows licence key and figure I can install it myself once the desktop turns up.

Please see spec below, if you notice any obvious issues your feed back is much appreciated!

Thanks,

There's quite a significant difference between the CPUs so the 5800X would definitely be the one to go for.

You can get away with a B550 motherboard but I think you would see a benefit with the X570. I would normally go for the ASUS TUF X570 but it's not that big a deal if you prefer the Gigabyte.

With the GPU I would tend to recommend Nvidia just now. The new AMD cards are out today I believe, but I don't think you require the level they are at. What sort of games do you play? What monitor do you have? Model number would be good or resolution and refresh rate as a minimum.

PSU choice is more so about longevity. The RMx PSUs are the ones often recommended, especially with any sort of professional application. You would want the 750W option as it gives you headroom for any upgrades you wish to consider in the future.

The rest of the build looks fine to me.

When posting up your config, if you copy and paste the entire text from "Post to forum" it allows us to see the link and go in and offer changes with ease. Otherwise we would be starting from scratch in the configurator which adds considerable time.

Thanks Scott that is most helpful.

- I'll upgrade the CPU
- Noted RE the motherboard
- The GPU is an interesting one. I actually am using quite an average monitor until I can afford another, it's the Samsung C24F396FHU. I'm not a huge gamer although would like the option to moving forwards and am just beginning to understand that side of things. I understand that the monitor plays a pivotal role, would you be able to recommend any semi decent mid level ones?

The windows operating system doesn't seem to be an issue

Thanks
