Difference between Intel i9 24-Core i9-13900KF vs Intel i9 24-Core i9-13900K? + RAM Question :)

There's around a £30 price point difference and I cannot see a difference in at least what I've briefly googled?
Why would you choose one over the other?

Also, I was playing with the PCSpecialist 4090 spec builder, the maximum option for RAM was (16x2)32gb DDR4 - I was hoping there would be a (32x2)64gb DDR4 option? Is the fact it is unavailable means it is unnecessary overkill bloat?

Hiya

The K series processors are the full unlocked versions.

KF is the same processor without graphics.

I don't know why PCS don't offer over 32Gb, you'd need to ask them directly, they don't monitor the forums. In the past it's been due to instability issues with early BIOSes or general shortages making it unfair to offer the higher configs and instead spread the load.

In which case... If I ask them to install it with just the cheapest option which I think is 4gb DDR4, which should be enough to run and do their tests I can replace with 32x2gb DDR4 when it arrives?

Oh, sorry, with DDR4 you can order 64Gb in both the Intel and AMD configurators, it's only DDR5 that has the restriction afaik. Sorry, I missed you stated DDR4

Depending on the usage, the difference between 3200MHz and 3600MHz is going to be miniscule because of the timings that are supplied.

But yes, if you wanted to buy just 4Gb, you can then replace it with your own RAM which a lot of people do do.

Thank you again Spyder, it's been a hot minute since I did a PC build, I had a friend scold me just this evening for even suggesting getting 4x16gb and I should only get 2x32gb... is that a thing? or is he talking out of his bum?

The benefit of 2 x 32Gb is that it would leave you slots free should you wish you upgrade in the future. It does exist, yes. I think you can even get 1 x 64Gb sticks.

Downside is if any one DIMM fails, you have to replace a larger size (bigger cost)

There is also some evidence that populating 4 DIMMS will actually give a slight performance increase on modern boards, this is on DDR4 at least, not certain about DDR5, still need to research the new RAM

I find these power levels insane, not sure anyone predicted how fast it would rise. My PC is only four years old and at the time the configurator would have let me get away with a 550W PSU. Ousebon, Spyder and the rest made me up it to a 750 minimum and suggested an 850 for headroom. I went for the 850 (thankfully, because I since finagled a 2080TI from work) and it looks like it is still going to be a squeeze for a modern GPU.

Yeah, when I originally specced the Berserker the other year I was going to go 850W, but i thyink it was @Scott who suggested going 1000W for an extra £19, so that's what i did

Tell me about it mate I've a 750W too that I'll likely have to change when it comes time. Waiting until at least the 8 Series from Nvidia but I could end up with AMD with how hard they are pushing
