Desktop won't switch on. No signs of life!

Hello,
Several weeks ago my PC made an electrical crackling noise on start-up. However, it booted up fine but after five minutes or so switched itself off. I restarted it without a problem and subsequently it worked as normal for the few days before I went away. Having just returned from holiday I switched it on yesterday and the green light by the on-off switch flickered and there were sounds of life but then it died after 15 seconds or so. Pressing the on-off switch has no effect. I tried different plugs on the wall and so it is not a mains electricity supply problem. The PC is as dead as a dodo. It's only four years old and prior to the issue several weeks ago I have had no problems with it. Any thoughts or advice gratefully received. Thank you in advance.

Crackling is not a good sign on any electrical equipment, could be the PSU or motherboard fried.

That is a very budget PSU to pair with that GPU.

You'd need to RMA it, almost certainly a hardware issue

Thank you for your reply. If I understand correctly it may be that the PSU has given up the ghost as it lacked the capacity to deal with the demands of the GPU. If that is the case, does it make sense to upgrade the PSU or will the PSU's failure have damaged other components, perhaps beyond repair? Many thanks in advance.

Check the kettle plug is pushed into the PSU properly on the back of the PC, they can and do make an arcing noise if they are not pushed in far enough

Thank you for the suggestion. I have done that. Still no sign of life unfortunately.

Unplug it from the wall, take both sides of the case off, and check all the internal connections, but it it's more and more sounding that the PSU has gone pop
