Desktop restricting boradband download speed?

Hi there i've just moved to virgin broadband and when testing the wifi using my samsung tablet it achieves a download speed of 300 mbps. The issue is when I test my speed on my desktop that is wired through Netgear plp1000 connectors it only says im getting speeds of about 40 mbps.

Any help is appreciated.

Power line adapters are well known for causing connection problems. I gave up on mine ages ago. In my opinion it is unlikely to be your desktop pc that is the issue.

Yeah it does well to remember that you can only achieve the fastest speed of the slowest component in the system, when I was at work my pc only had a 100Mb network card in it, so connecting by Wi-Fi with my phone was about twice the speed

If your router has mesh capabilities, your could consider to buy a mesh repeater. It will give you almost same DL and UP speed as being next to the router
