Desktop Radeon RX 6700 XT Keeps Crashing All Of Sudden

Hi all,
I hope someone can save me from my new nightmare. So I have had this pc built from PC Specialist for a few months now and it has been amazing until today.

So ill cut to chase. I turned on my pc today to play Star Citizen and every 5 mins it was crashing and I put it down to the game being in alpha still and normal problems maybe an off day. However, I then went on EA FC 24 and couldnt even complete a match before it crashed and flashed black screen and my whole pc froze. Its like my graphics card all of a sudden goes silent and crashes.
I then received the error code which I have attached for yall to see. So i take it its a driver issue. Now today in update history I had driver update: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display - 31.0.14070.0. Could this affect it and if so what can i do or is this more of a graphics card issue meaning resetting all drivers etc?

If the GPU driver updated through windows update it would suggest the proper GPU driver hasn't been installed.

How did you install windows when you got it? Where did you source drivers?

Hi i just got windows from a USB stick and then let it do its thing and update and find everything

I had windows bootable from USB Stick and then had a key for Windows 11 already sorted to enter and enable

But where did you get the windows image? And what process did you take to install it?

The reason we're asking is there is only one method to clean install, if it hasn't been done correctly, then the system is never going to be stable as it's not been configured. Doesn't matter what you install after the fact, it's always going to be unstable.

So it's up to you, if you're certain you've clean installed, then I'd suggest a DDU sweep of the graphics drivers and reinstall them.

Ok thank you, the image came from a USB from friend who bascially is the IT dude at my work he has a empty bootable windows from USB i guess and sets up all the computers with it and then sorts codes etc. In my case I got it on my USB stick from him and then i purchased a windows 11 key for the windows 10 software he had on stick. If that makes sense

If you got a Windows 11 key, then I suggest you download the Windows 11 image and clean install using that - not what your colleague as given you.

Ok cause when it did install it went to windows 10. Then i had to update to 11 later on. Even though was an 11 key. So the key only activated the software but still remained windows 10 temp

W11 clean install instructions

Download a new copy of Windows using the Media Creation Tool (Second option on linked page) to an 8GB (min) USB.
Boot that USB and choose a Custom Install.
Delete all UEFI partitions on the system drive (EFI System, Recovery, MSR Reserved, Primary).
Select the unallocated space that results and click the Next button. The installer will create the correct partitions and install Windows.
Run Windows Update repeatedly, even across reboots, until no more updates are found.
You may need/want to download and install the latest graphics driver from the Nvidia/AMD website (they change so regularly the latest version isn't always in the Windows libraries).

Hi all, an update - So I decided to give it to my technician friend in the end who did some tests after following everything you all said.

He ran some tests and even removed the graphics card and put into new device and it turned out the graphics card was the issue and faulty. It has excessive coil whine whatever that means and also kept crashing on benchmark tests such as heaven etc. He advised he has seen this with AMD before and it’s a known issue with the 6700 xt - was wondering if a 3070 is a good alternative as I have used Nvidia in the past with no issue?

I don’t mind getting a new card as a like for like may experience same issue if only few months old and I am now debating the reliability of the AMD graphics cards. I’m just wondering if since I have had Nvidia in past if that would be best to go back to and if so what’s the best alternative for my specs?
