Hello all,
I been having an issue with my pc whereby it randomly hangs on the motherboard logo screen on restarts and will not load windows or allow me to enter the BIOS. This can occur on any restart but seems to be more common when restarting after an update. The only way I can get passed it is to turn the computer off via the external on/off switch and leave it for a min or so before turning back on. If I turn it off and then straight back on it will continue to hang on the logo screen.
I have already sent my PC back to PCS for this issue and the ram and hdd were replaced so I do not think it is these.
I have been trying to fix it myself since then as I do not want to send it back. The performance of the PC otherwise seems okay but I am worried that it could be a sign of a wider issue that may come to bite me later when I am out of warranty - maybe with the motherboard?
I very much doubt it is to do with software/windows as it has done this during the process of doing a full fresh install of windows. There does not seem to be any one thing that is the cause as it can do it if I restart straight after loading into windows or if I have any number of combinations of apps running. Conditions can be exactly the same but there is no consistency as to when it will do this.
I have updated my motherboard BIOS again today and it still continues. I have reset to default optimised values and the only changes I have ever made to the MB settings is turning on XMP and also changing fan speeds to PWM as the cpu fan was a touch too noisy on auto. I have also left the settings as optimised defaults and it still hangs.
I only have a couple of peripherals plugged in which I have also had unplugged to see if it was any of these which made no difference. I have a Razer Wolverine pad/Arteck wireless keyboard/razor Basilisk wireless mouse/ Razer Kraken x headset and a couple of Kingston USB drives. It does not seem to be anything external.
I have tried updating everything under the sun/multiple windows refreshes and full reinstall and format/tweaking settings in MB BIOS but nothing works and I am at my wits end and am hoping that one of you more knowledgeable people may be able to help me
My system is:
ASUS® ROG STRIX Z690-F GAMING WIFI
Intel® Core™ i7 12-Core Processor i7-12700K
2TB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2, PCIe NVM (Windows boot drive)
1TB Samsung 860 Evo SSD from my old computer (taken this out which made no difference and I removed this when it was sent back)
2TB Western Digital HDD from my even older computer (taken this out which made no difference and I removed this when it was sent back)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 5600MHz (2 x 16GB)
RTX 4080
CORSAIR 1000W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
Corsair H100x Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler
FRACTAL DEFINE 7 BLACK QUIET MID-TOWER CASE
Any advice and guidance is much appreciated.
Thank you.
