So I just plugged in my old hard drive that had everything on it after installing a fresh windows 7 on my ssd. I'm trying to now format that drive so I can wipe it and use it as a storage device I was going of this video by Linus

If you go to 3:05 as you can see he just right clicks and clicks new simple volume because his drive was not partitioned only problem is mine is cause I was using it as you can see in this next picture (The second drive is the harddrive of course) Sorry for small pics just click on them please

Am I meant to press delete volume for format or what? I can't see any new simple volume like with linus so I want to make sure

If you have saved all the data you want from the hard drive, right click on it and select "format"

Thanks one more thing I want my HDD drive letter to be D: but that's what my dvd drive is it ok if I just right click on my dvd drive and click change drive letter and path. It won't break anything will it?

It won't break anything, but some programs that rely on the drive letter may not run correctly,so maybe not a good idea.
