CPU overheating

Hello!

On startup, my computer has about an 80% chance of its CPU steadily climbing from 70°C to 105°C, after which it shuts off. This is not the first time I have had this problem, it was doing it around late November to early December, where I RMA'd it to PCspecialist who fixed the problem at the time, however I am a bit at a loss at the fact it has started to happen again.

The RMA report:
"During the testing phase we were able to isolate the fault to an airlock in the pump, and the pump settings being incorrect. We have re-seated all core components, updated the motherboard to the latest BIOS and set up the pump header correctly, and updated Windows 10 Home along with the latest drivers."

Is it possible this has happened again? I have seen some reviews of my CPU stating that it can be difficult to keep cool, which would imply that upgrading my cooling system may be the best way forward.

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12 Core CPU (3.7GHz-4.8GHz/70MB CACHE/AM4)
Cooling System:
PCS FrostFlow 240 Series RGB High Performance Liquid Cooler (AMD)

Thanks!

Honestly that CPU cooler is in no way capable of keeping the 5900X cool, it'll be running flatout which will cause the pump to eventually burn out which I suspect has happened both the first time and now a second time

This will likely keep happening using that cooler with that CPU

100% agree, the cooler isn't sufficient.

What's the orientation/layout of the cooler radiator? Can you take a pic with the side panel off?

The cooler isn't great, no doubt, but unless it's failed with fatigue, it should be able to do an OK job with everything else being optimal.

Alright, thanks for confirming my suspicisions! Would either of you have any recommendations on a better cooler?

Yeah the H100i would do the job but I recommend the H115i which would be more suited. It'll run quieter and easier the H100i could handle but would have to work a little harder

I would check that the H115i would fit first :)
Oh wow good point never even noticed that, the TD500 doesn't support a 280mm Rad but it does support a 240mm Rad roof mounted. You can front mount the H115i but I dunno I just don't like front mounting rads. Supports 360mm mounted on the front

I would definitely front mount a H115i over a top mounted H100i, I don't think the H100i is enough personally.

I cool my 5900X ok with Corsair H100i ELITE CAPELLIX ok, front mounted rad behind the 3 front fans with a pair of fans in the roof of the 465X
