CPU Cooling + Build

Would anyone be able to confirm that the Noctua would be sufficient cooling for this CPU? i really want to stay with air/fan cooling and not water cooling if possible. I see the water cooled coolers advised way more but when i watch comparisons online they seem neither has much advantage over the other? any other advise is appreciated :)

Thanks

I would fully recommend changing the motherboard to the ROG Strix X570 and the cooler to the H115i RGB Platinum. The 5900X is capable of putting out a fair bit of heat when it’s at full chat so the above additions will help ensure there’s no cases of thermal throttling.

AIO liquid coolers are simply more efficient at dissipating heat. A fan cooler will blow hot air created by the CPU into the case for other fans to remove. The liquid cooler will distribute the heat away from the chip to a radiator where fans will take it straight out of the case. I personally wouldn’t have fan cooling on anything at or above eight cores.

Thank you - what is the benefit to taking the rog strix over the current X570? Also, sorry for the noob question, but the H115i wont require any maintenance what so ever will it? it should be happy to run for years and years without touching it?

You’re welcome 👍

The ROG Strix has better heat sinks and VRM, much better equipped to cope with the 5900X.

The H115i is a closed loop so yep, totally maintenance free. I’ve got the H100i in mine and it’s been running near constantly since I purchased my system with no issues whatsoever.

No to doubt you at all as i am trying to gather all thoughts/experiences as its an expensive machine i have bought! but i did watch a linus video comparing all of these (If im not allowed to link I will remove)

This video compares both solutions and to me looks like they are equal apart from air cooling is cheaper but not as clean/space consuming. Am I missing something or am I right in thinking it is more of a personal choice?

Want to say thanks again - I don't want it to sound like i'm challenging your knowledge

No problem. There’s arguments for both, but what I would say is... look at what these users have in their own personal builds. It’s always a liquid cooler.
