Cooling pad for laptop, yes or no ?

I recently bought a Proteus VIII at pc specialists with a i7 of 10th gen and a 2070 super inside, I was wondering if it was a good idea having a cooling pad for it just to reduce the temperature and maybe increase its life expectancy (I don't care this much about gaining more performance}, or if the fan inside are enough in turbo mode if I am using a stand, thanks in advance for all your answers and advice!

If you’ve got the funds, definitely. Laptops are always going to run hotter than desktops due to the cramped environment they’re working with. It’s well worth giving it as much help as you can to stay cool. There’s no guarantee it’ll prolong the life of the system, but it’s definitely not going to do it any harm.

Anything you can do to reduce the temperatures of the laptop and the battery will pay dividends in extending the lifespan. Heat is the number one enemy of li-ion batteries and of all electronic components, so anything you can do to get rid of waste heat is worthwhile.

IMO one or two large fans are better. They move a greater volume of air and they tend to be better constructed fans which last longer. The tiddly little fan models use cheap fans that don't move as much air and which will break after a relatively short period.

I'd also suggest looking for a cooler stand with a metal (aluminium) grid on which the laptop sits, rather than one with a plastic grid. Metal dissipates the heat faster than plastic, so with a metal grid the air being blown in is cooler than with a plastic grid.

Forget LED lights and extra USB ports, that's just frippery - big fan(s) and metal grid.

I have a Proteus VIII with 2070 and i have a fan pad under it! it also helps to clean under it regularly but taking the panel can be a bit of fun!

I know it looks fancy but it have one big 200mm fan and a metal grid. Is that a good one or there is some much better cooling pad for the same price at other brands like Thermaltake, cooler master or even Tecknet?

I bought one for my ps4 pro last year as those send out enough heat so you don't need the heating on in the winter.

No idea if it helped but it did give off some good cold airflow and wasn't too noisy, not that you would have heard it with the ps4 pros jet engines going full throttle.
Think it was a Klim cyclone one off amazon.

Does this one has to be plugged to the laptop or it can be plugged directly on a plug ?

Yes its usb or if u really want u can plug into a wall by an adapter.. it does have a usb plug on board so you dont technically lose a usb port

Alright I might consider those two cooler but I think I'll go for the one you suggested, it looks more robust than the fancy rgb one. Thanks a lot for your help!

Im really happy of it, appart from the fact that the battery is not gigantic, I love it as I can use it to work during the day and play during the weekends with very good performance .

I have never really used it on the battery so i dont know about that.. if i had to pick one problem with it.. it would be its a little noisy when just generally running.. otherwise its perfect.. i have updated ram etc and had no issues

Only ever use Windows Update and the Nvidia website for the graphics driver.

Stay well away from all third party driver search and install tools.
