Constant stuttering in online games

Hi there,

I recieved my new PC last week and I have been having no end of trouble with stuttering in online games since utilising it.
I've been watching the process performance when it happens and my GPU drops to zero during these times. The game basically freezes entirely for 1-2 seconds and all audio drops too.

So far I've tried limiting my FPS, turning off v sync, turning on low latency mode, turning off the microsoft game bar and turning my graphics down to medium (which is annoying to have to do on a new high end PC)

Anyone got any other ideas? I'm at my wits end with it, this and a fan has already stopped working on this new PC. I'm at a point I'm considering asking to return it due to these issues that can't seem to be resolved. It runs slower than my old Ryzen 7 and 1660 ti graphic card spec PC at this point.

You haven't ordered a gaming processor, it's not a great processor for gaming unless you know how to manage the Ccd's. Most games will get confused as there are too many cores, disabling one CCD should restore normal performance.

It's a shame you didn't get some advice, you've spent WAAAAY more than you needed to on the CPU for inferior performance over a gaming processor

The motherboard as well doesn't make a lot of sense, another area you could have saved a few hundred quid.

You also don't have your games on a dedicated drive which will be causing a bottleneck.

Real shame, you could have spent £500 less for significantly better performance.

As you've only had it a week, you can cancel the order no questions asked (within 14 days of receipt), I would strongly recommend doing that unless you have other primary uses for it.

A few people advised that it looked good as I also wanted to use it for streaming and art development projects with blender and such. A shame, I will be looking at returning it then I guess.

The 9950X3D is releasing soon, that would be a far far better all rounder if you want to game on it whilst maintaining high multicore performance.

Thank you for your advice, I've submitted a form to return it and will just have to take the £35 loss. Its a shame I seem to have had bad advice when it came to this build and trying to get a PC together which did too many things at once seems to have been its down fall. But thank you for your advice and hopefully my return request is accepted.

Once you’ve got your cash back (can take up to 7 working days or so to clear, nothing to do with PCS, it’s how payment refunds work on the banking system), come back and we can advise you of something more suitable
