Console gamer (Gasp) who is looking to get into PC gaming need help with specs please.

Hey all,

I am wondering if someone is able to take a look at the specs of my potential new purchase?
For context, I usually play PS5 and previously ran logic pro on imac for music production and similar software for video editing.
After getting frustrated with the lack of customisation and constant hassle I have decided to make the jump to PC.
I will be using for Gaming, maybe streaming, music production with lots of plug ins and Wav files, as well as general photo and video editing.
Generally I will play AAA titles and the concept of modding games has a great appeal to me. Wondering if anyone can look at my specs before I make a sizeable purchase thanks in advance.

What is your actual budget mate and what monitor will you be pairing this with?

There are a number of areas here where we can help you get much more bang for your buck as they say and optimise parts without adding much to the cost

Hey Steveyg,

My budget is £4k and I will eventually be paring with a Samsung 49" CRG90 DQHD Curved 120Hz Monitor but in the interim will pair with some smaller monitors.

Thank you for taking the time to do that SteveyG are you able to point out some of the differences I know the processor and motherboard are different and storage. Is it better to have more m.2 ssd's as opposed to standard storage drives? I was looking at the ironwolf as well.

The i9 12900K is the current top of the line chip out there for production work. It edges out the 5950x currently and the motherboard is to suit that CPU

One warning on the Iron Wolfs they are more designed for server racks as opposed to desktop pc machines so they can be very loud which isn't good for an audio based machine. I personally wouldn't use them in fact I would avoid mechanic HDD's entirely to keep noise down but with the other parts in there the fans will be noticeable to keep the temps down so I don't the HDD will make much of a difference

@SpyderTracks knows more about the audio side than I do though, maybe they can offer better advice
