Connection problem

I am connected with an ethernet cable that goes into the wall, I have also tried a wireless connection however the problem still occurs.
prettymuch what happens is my connection is fine and stable, but every now and then it just stops for a couple of seconds before reconnecting. If anyone knows what the source of the issue could be and how I could fix it I would be very greatful.

What PC are you connecting to what router? Are you using homeplugs/wallplugs/extenders of any kind? The more info you can provide the better so we have the same information as you (as far as practical anyway :)) - otherwise we're just shooting in the dark here :).

You can easily post your PC specification from your order page, other handy bits of info we're probably going to ask for can be found here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...posting-collaboration-of-helpful-hints.77691/

Its strange that you have said it occurs when you're connected via wifi and via an ethernet cable - do you notice the issue on other devices connected to the same router (a phone, other computers, other devices, etc.)? What are you doing on the PC when it happens? When trying via wifi did you disconnect the ethernet cable?

I'm connected through an ethernet cable that is plugged into the wall.
When connecting through wifi I did not unplug the ethernet cable, I just assumed if any errors occurred with the ethernet connection it would swap to wifi.
It never happened on my old PC (which was connected through the same ethernet cable) or any handhold devices such as my phone or tablet.

My specs are:

another problem that sometimes happens is I've noticed a few sites that previously worked fine no longer do and I get these errors:

First off, use only WiFi or Ethernet not both.

Do you have the same problems using just WiFi (and with the Ethernet unplugged) as when you use just Ethernet (and with the WiFi disconnected)?

I'm assuming I won't have the problem if I'm connected via wifi but my interent is slow to the point of unusable because of how far I am away from the router. I'm guessing this because I dont have any issues with other devices and my old PC was fine on the same ethernet cable.

t is best not to assume. Can you disconnect Ethernet and see if you have the same problems on WiFi alone?

the problem is my without an ethernet cable download speeds drop below 1mbps, making it virtually unusuable.
That's because there's something throttling your connection, you need to troubleshoot it.

Have you got bullguard installed? If so you need to fully uninstall it.

Can you take a screenshot of your network adapters?

Have you attached the wireless antenna?

I have fully uninstalled bullguard via control panel > uninstall a program.

I have not attached the wireless antenna.

I have no attached the wireless antenna (I left it out as I was intending to connect via ethernet cable and didn't think to use it to test wifi connection) and its boosted my download speed to around 10mbps - while slow, is defenatly useable.
I will use this for a day or so and see if the problem still occurrs.

Wifi won't work without the antenna installed.

That's part one.

Second part is you have a proton VPN installed. You realise while that's active it will slow your internet connection, so you won't reach speeds you can when it's off whilst it's activated. ProtonVPN is known for being a lot slower than most VPN's.

Just worth a word of warning about ProtonVPN just so you're aware:

I dont use it all the time and was still having these issues before installing it, the main reason for installing it is because it prevents the "secure connection failed" issue from happening on some random sites.

And also about the antenna, I didn't bother to because I intended to only use ethernet connection, and when I started using wifi and not ethernet to test if the problem still occurrs I just toatally forgot about its existance.

As said, WiFi ain’t gonna work without the antenna connected.

Yeah I attached it a little bit ago, thanks for reminding me about it, My download speeds are around 10mbs now which is at least useable but still not close to the 50 - 60 mbps that I was getting on the ethernet, I'll see if it keeps cutting out randomly.

Make sure the VPN is turned off when testing.

Then if it does turn out to be a signal issue (you should be able to tell by the reception bar in the taskbar), then you can either look to improving your wifi with a mesh setup, or connecting via cable.

I think you might have missed the other problem I am having. Basically what is happenening is when I'm connected via ethernet cable, like I was on my old pc, my internet randomly cuts out for a couple of seconds. Which in games like CSGO is extremely annoying. I'll test it today using wifi and keep you updated.
also when doing speedtests my VPN was disabled.

Thanks for helping me this far!

You must test one thing a a time, so either user Ethernet or use WiFi, don't try and use both.

It sounds now as though your problems are Ethernet related and the way to test for that is to unplug the Ethernet cable and just use WiFi. If WiFi alone works ok then disconnect the WiFi and plug in the Ethernet cable (so then you're just using Ethernet) and see how that it.
